Guys, I need your help

I'm starting to believe that if we would ever stop tripping over our own feet, we might be one of the two or three best teams in the country. Please talk some sense into me.

Maybe we will, maybe we won’t.
Either way we’ll play the games and see how it plays out so feel free to hope away.
We have talent. We have a coaching staff that was close to winning a national championship already. We also have shown mind numbing mistakes. We’ll see how it shakes out.

I go from thinking this staff is ill-suited for Tuscaloosa/SEC football and will be gone in 18 months to we’re going to win a couple of championships with them, usually in the span of a quarter or two, so I can’t help you.

Hard to say but the next two seasons will tell. Next year, assuming no one transfers out, we’ll return 10 out of eleven starters. The offense should routinely put up gaudy numbers every week.
We lose most of the secondary (although CKW has been really good about rotating in younger guys during games) along with Pierre, Thompkins, Umeozulu and Woods. Replacing Thompkins and Woods will be huge.

The staff is totally capable. When Grubb gets out of his own way, he calls some pretty nice plays that are not only fun to watch, but effective.
Kane is a fantastic DC. There were some “throw it up and pray” passes the defense didn’t defend well, but honestly, #0 is a player.
Special teams has been great this year aside from two things that I can remember.
I think my only issue is still seeing guys occasionally take plays off. That’s on coaching, but it’s probably hard to convince rich kids who can transfer at any moment to play hard.

I think 2027 is the year for DeBoer. IF, and it's obviously a big if the staff can retain most of the roster I think Alabama kicks the shite out of everyone next season. The offense will be one of the best in the nation and assuming Justin Hill & Griffin take the next step the D will be downright nasty. The secondary will be in good shape due to all the rotation Wommack does. And nothing will be more satisfying than breaking it off in Ohio St. at their house.

This seems like the kind of post I would make right before we got upset by a team that gets a hot QB playing out of his mind and then loses the rest of their games that season.

Schedule next year is brutal. That’s part of the problem. I’m glad they kept the OSU series on, but holy shite did we pick a bad year to have a premier OOC opponent with who were playing in conference as well

It doesn’t matter if next yr is supposed to be a good year with a great opponent and maybe we will be better. It’s the original poster’s point, will we ever keep tripping over our own feet? Will we continue to call a pass play on 3rd and 2 in the opponent’s territory? That’s the question. But if we continue to do that, yes KW will leave.

I honestly think we finish about where we are only because of the youth of the team. If we had more veteran players, it would be different
