UNC 'insiders' are regurgitating this lie that he expressed interest in their job but "they don't want him" lol. Spoken liken a broken fan base trying to justify why a big name HC doesn't want to coach there.
Gonna be funny if UNC strikes out like UK did with all their candidates. You don't need to go to a blueblood anymore to win big.

When was the last time one of those legitimately "stole" a coach away though? Duke promoted from within, as did UNC last, UCONN hired the Vermont coach, UCLA is nothing but retreads and mid majors because they're always broke, etc. Was Roy Williams "mama calling" the last time it really happened? Even then he turned them down three years before.

Amen. Uconn hired Hurley from Rhode Island though.

I am not actively looking to extend Nate Oats right now. Instead, I am insisting that we allow Oats to move on and continue his journey on Tinder. We appreciate everything he has done for the program, but it is best that we move backwards from here on out. In the great words of Avery, "Buckle Up Buckaroo".

Oats seems like such a based dude. He's in it for the right reasons. Foes love to act like he's a big piece of shite, but in actuality he's a really solid guy who cares about his players, the school, and the game. He's not some paper chasing whore like many coaches out there.
He reminds me of a bunch of guys I've known from that Wisconsin/Chicagoland area. They're blunt as hell and don't hold back their opinions. I bet even Nate calls himself an a-hole to his friends. But they just didn't do BS customary niceties. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "I may be an a-hole, but ......" and then they give a brutally honest opinion.
It can rub people the wrong way. I usually like them, even when we are pretty different kinds of people. But on jobsites, you'll meet people from everywhere. I'll take that over someone who's fake.

Lets give that man a roster worthy of a championship

Ah, makes sense and I wasn't aware of a new practice facility being built.
Thanks for the correction.

I think Nate genuinely WANTS to be at Alabama. He doesn't want to walk in anyone else's shadow. He wants to create the shadow.

What are the contract details for his extension?

Nothing has made me consider donating for NIL more than knowing we’re probably 1 extra big NIL buy away from a natty most years with Nate…well at least the last four.

The ONLY problem now, if this is considered a problem for him, is that basketball will "walk in the shadow" of football here.

I left Bessemer at 7 and moved to Montserrat and later St. Lucia before moving to EL Paso by 10. It was interesting.
Bless your heart, I didn’t make it out of Bessemer until I was 22.

Yeah, that can be a blessing too. He can go to the Sweet Sixteen every year until he dies and the Alabama AD won’t do anything but extend his contract every year. If he makes an occasional Elite Eight or Final Four, they will name the coliseum after him. If he does the exact same thing in Chapel Hill or Lawrence, they will fire him in 5 years. Hubert Davis was in the title game 4 years ago. Today, he’s out of a job. That’s a lot of pressure.

I feel like Hubie inherited a team ready to win it all and they got less credible as a contender each year.
