Simpson (with some coaching up) is much more of a qb that would fit DeBoer's system. I don't know that much about Sayin just yet.
How good I'd that qb from James Madison and is he still in the portal?

After A-Day is in the books we will have a much better idea which QB(s) made good improvement under the new system. One of the current QB's will hit the portal.

Milroe looked like a better passer than Simpson this year and he is also a better runner. If Simpson improves to where he is better than Milroe then maybe but thats a big if. I do like that Simpson stayed and we have Sayin now who may be our best option by the end of next season similar to how Tua was at the end of his freshman season.

If Milroe couldn't learn Bama's playbook after years of studying how could he possibly learn DeBears which is far more complex in one off season ?

If Sayin is the next Tua/Bryce hopefully he wins it, if not it almost has to be Simpson or Lonergan.

Everyone forgets the big talk out of last spring and fall camp was Lonergan.

Milroe led the team to an SEC championship and playoff appearance and a 6th place Heisman finish. He did things no other Bama QB had ever done.

If he’s the guy there’s no reason to think the team can’t be as good or better in 2024.

I agree Spring will be an indicator, but I'd think if there was to be a change, it would be fall camp before that materializes.

Coach has to hold a team together. Isn't the deadline to announce transfer to another school 1May? I don't think anyone is taking 1st team reps in a scrimmage other than Milroe until then.

He most definitely wasn't a better passer than Ty Simpson but Milroe did improve by leaps and bounds throughout the season.

Can't really compare the two considering Ty threw 20 passes all season. 11-20 179 yards. but you definitely can't factually say that Ty was a better passer than Milroe in 2023.

Not based on what i saw from both of them in games. Simpson barely had above a 50% completion percentage.

Simpson is at least as mobile as Penix, though, right?

Simpson did seem to grow more confident as the season progressed.

Is he an AJ McCarron or Mac Jones type qb?

Also just putting this out there but Milroe did have Bama up 7 with a few minutes to go over the eventual NC.

Well, hopefully whoever wins, it will be because they are the best QB we have and not simply starting because they have been around the longest.

I hope those days are behind us with DeBear at HC.

First off, we are going to have to have more points from the Offense next year I do believe.
Second, these reads, progressions and check downs required in this new offense kind of scares me.

I'd still like to know more about that qb from James Madison...looked like he had great stats!

Agreed. I trust Deboer and his staff will start whichever qb they think gives us the best chance to win just Saban and the offensive staff did last season. The coaches get to see how the QBs play in practice, we don’t.

Just crazy that Saban said vs USF “here are the other options” and they all played terribly, and some people still think Simpson should've been starting.

Unless someone has a crystal ball, we are not going to know jack until these people actually get on the field.

Everyone seems to want answers with certainty in the second week of January, 48 hours after we introduced the new coach. We’re not going to get answers with certainty in the second week of January, 48 hours after we introduced the new coach.

It’s hilarious how the Milroe crowd talks about how much he has improved since the USF game, but doesn’t allow for the idea that other QBs could have improved as well.

Not saying that Miltoe won’t be the guy, but the starter probably won’t come down to winning the locker room from here on out.

Here’s something a little odd. I just saw a headline in Google to a yahoo sports page saying Milroe put his name in the portal, but the link is dead. Very very strange.
