What are the details on this?

The massive drop off after this injury isn’t really realized.. Dylan called our plays and put bodies in place. He was our coach on the field.. what we lacked last year. Freshman don’t pick up that play book in one year. He was the one guy we couldn’t lose this year. I know we can simplify it, but a good OC will rip that apart. It’s a huge loss and really crippled our NC hopes.. It will show this year and be highlighted again and again

On paper its the one position that I felt we could not take a hit and we have already taken 2 before playing a snap. It is exhausting for me as a fan so I cant imagine how JM and DM feel right now.

Offense will have to outscore everyone. Hopefully Lee and Harris are confident by the aTm game. I don’t feel good about our chances against UGA or Clemson now.

How do you blame coaches for a practice injury? Bama players are some of the best conditioned, best fed, most coddled and cared for athletes on the planet, with the best medical care and physio trainers in the world.

I don’t mean for this to be a reactionary/screaming at the sky response, but does anyone think that maybe certain guys should not be going 100% all the way through fall camp? Obviously we don’t know exactly what happened, and he could have tripped getting out of the ice bath, but Dylan Moses was not “competing for a position” in any way, shape or form. In the NFL, you see starters get shut down in preseason, and I wonder if colleges should somewhat do that, too. I know it kind of goes against the process to not “compete to a standard every day,” but do we really want OUR offense going 100% against OUR defense every day in fall camp?

Me neither.. a good offense can scheme around this.. we will have to have players out of positions to fill gaps and that’s when mistakes happen. Plus we won’t have anyone who can put them in the right positions.. I expect Lewis and then to try to pick up the slack.. which puts a strain on their own assignments

It's tough to mitigate these injuries but at this point we've lost so much and have yet to play a single snap of the season. At this rate they will be playing walkons by mid season. Tua can score all he wants it's not going to matter if we can't stop them.

Gonna need Tua and Co. to put up 60+ points a game.

Pat Dye on Bryant practices:

“We had full speed contact. Best against the best. To develop talent, you got to do it at the speed the game’s played at.”

What’s your answer then?

That's not my job. That's Saban's job and Cochran's job.

I 100% agree.

However, something has clearly changed in the way these players prepare because these season-ending injuries are occurring with more regularity than they had been in the first 10 seasons of Saban's tenure.

The players have changed since then.. bigger, faster, stronger.. that hard nose approach only gets guys hurt now days. It’s a different game at a different speed now. I agree going 100% at times let’s you know who’s the best.. but all the time gets you hurt. Every hit is like a car wreck now.. enough of those and your hurt. Bodies can’t take that kind of stress and damage. These guys aren’t 175lbs anymore

How so? I don't really think anyone can be blamed for an acl tear unless somebody went for his knees. It's just one of those things that happens, which sucks, but I don't see how blame can be placed anywhere besides bad luck.

Thank you! When you’re down to zero depth at linebacker you hold the player back. It’s evident that Saban had already taken that approach during the second scrimmage. Several players sat that game out at Saban’s direction. Why Dylan Moses is going full speed on a Tuesday of game week is beyond me. Maybe he wasn’t and it was just a freak accident, but until I hear otherwise I will be pissed.

His exact text

“Way too many serious injuries. Bama wants to blame Nike for the foot injuries, but its the same shoes all the other schools wear. You dont ever see any freaks created in our S&C program. The ones that are freaks were that way in HS...See Boze, Jonah etc. Two things you can always count on at the NFL combine are Bama players not impressing and their medical jackets are always the thickest”
