My coworker at the game last night he told me that Auburns band embarassed ours. He said the music they played in the stands was awesome and ours was embarrassing….is our band that shitty?

Maybe, but I’m pretty sure that when you travel you take a smaller band than you have for home games.

Look, the million dollar band isn’t “bad”.
It’s average to good.
It’s just not elite like Ohio State, Grambling etc.
I didn’t think the AU band did anything particularly great yesterday but I fully admit to barely paying attention… because it’s a band performing during one of the most important and intense games of the year.

They’ve gotten better from like around 2004-2008 when I was going to almost every game. Back then we had a pretty bad selection of songs we played over and over.
The song selection still isn’t the best, but there are a few bangers in there and the Elephant formation is always pretty cool. They probably aren’t going to be mentioned with any HBCU’s or some bands that are overemphasized, but most programs are going toward light shows and blaring Mo Bomba anyway, so as long as they can Rammer Jammer and Tusc then I’m good
I would like to get rid of “bye bye bye” on 3rd down.

Lol not even fricking close. Our band sounds so much better and doesn't rehash played out songs that every other band in America plays. Auburn's band sounds like a high school band on steroids.
The ONLY advantage I'd give Auburn 's band is they put on some absolutely epic halftime shows while ours are embarrassingly bad. Seriously, Auburn's halftime shows are like cinema. They're that good. But we dust them in every other department.
What kills me is how anyone can sit there with a straight face and call their performance awesome and ours embarrassing. Their band sounds like a bad, annoying car alarm. He either doesn't know shite about ensemble technique or he just loved their selection of songs they repeat over and over again (crazy train, Star Wars and eye of the tiger which are the three main choices of every fricking high school band in America). I also heard Auburn's band playing free bird last night and it was just plain awful. Give me our selection which includes Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, All of the Lights, Viva la Vida, Tusk, Basket case, etc.
I'd also like to add they played "neck" a few years ago and it sounded like a Dollar Tree version compared to LSU's band.

I have always thought our band wasn't that loud for sime.reason, especially when on the field. It's like the volume us turned down....lol

For the size and the resources available the MDB sucks and has for a while.

They are better than they were. I haven't been going to as many games as back a decade ago. It was very meh back then. I will say they finally stopped playing old show tunes for halftime shows

The barn pipes in music and noise.

Auburn's band - at least last I checked - had some folks who have their roots in the MDB running the show. They've improved dramatically over the last decade. They've got younger blood running the show. The MDB is ran by the same guy who was there when I was in college two decades ago. Doesn't surprise me that stand music and halftime shows are stale compared to other schools right now.
In my opinion, the best marching band in the SEC is TAMU but LSU is the best show band. Just one man's opinion.

Bryant-Denny is weird. Depending on where you're sitting, it's difficult to hear either band. Never seemed to be an issue prior to the expansions.

Just to be clear. MDB is better than Auburn but Auburn was a bottom tier outfit until the last decade or so.

I have been arguing this for years
That song is effing EPIC and sad to see it being wasted like that.

The Million Dollar band is average. Need new blood leading it. Auburns band has gotten much better.

I didn’t care about the band when I was in school and don’t care now.

It's average, but no more average than Auburn's is. Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas A&M are what I see as the historical blue blood bands. Penn State is also very good- Big Ten in general is better on the band front

I’ll weigh in as the naysayer on this thread but I thought the MDB sounded fantastic during the halftime shows this season. You may not like their choice of music but the band itself sounded great and I enjoyed the halftime shows. As I recall, they did three different shows this season (not counting homecoming). Their pregame show always gets me in the feels.

Went to four games this season, this was the best season for the band in a few years.
