don't get the panic about QB next season. We have two very capable QBs behind Bryce.

The one full game we played without Bryce this year:

1) Our QB turned it over 3 times.
2) He would have turned it over 6 times if TAMU’s secondary could catch a ball.
3) Our HOME game against the worst team in the SEC came down to the final play.

I saw Mac Jones play in HS and thought he would never see the field in Tuscaloosa. I saw Mac Jones in college so nervous that he short hopped a pass that only was going 10 yds ...and became an absolute stud. Best deep ball thrower I can recall. I mean I think Metchie dropped some because he figured there was no way the ball was getting to his hands in such a small window...
I saw him throw a pass in Orlando that had me thinking ... How the heck did he do that ( it was a simple out pattern to 4 but from the EZ ...long throw over a defender to 4 with enough time to turn up field. And led to the game sealing TD. Bu sitting in the EZ..he had 6in window across the field. So all that to say...Mac improved a TON

Of course there is going to be some dropoff after one of the best QBs to ever play for Bama, but we've been in much, much worse situations at QB than this and ended up just fine. It really all depends on getting a competent OC though.

Not panicked, but concerned. It's not about the drop off from Bryce to next year, it's the fact that we've had the three best quarterbacks in a row (not ranking order) and we will suddenly not. We're going to need to adjust the current system because we rely way too heavily on having an elite qb right now. I'm just not that confident those adjustments will be made

This is what every poster on this board is hoping and expecting will happen.

There will be riots if this doesn't happen.

It's too early to say that. Ty was an elite QB prospect out of high school. Who's to say he won't turn out to be right there with Tua, Mac, and Bryce. Because frankly only Tua really looked elite his freshman season.

We've been spoiled at QB with underclassmen QBs having success. That isn't the rule, that is the exception. QBs generally have always needed a couple of years to develop into college QBs. People really need to adjust their perspectives.

I'm not sure how anyone can watch Milroe play QB right now and feel like he's even close to ready. He MIGHT be ready with another couple of years of major development. But he looked as bad as a passer out there as I've seen since Spencer Pennington. Right now, it's Simpson or bust in '23 unless we hit the portal.

Only one of them won a NC as a starter and most people going into the season that year worried about Jones being the starting QB.

i thought a player actually had to have his name in the portal, before any coach could contact him.

Officially, but tampering happens all year through back channels.

If you believe Utah's AD, one of their players were offered ridiculous money to transfer. He stopped short of naming names, but the belief is that it was Bama going after Dalton Kincaid.

It lines up with the rumors that seemingly came out of nowhere in the Spring connecting Bama to Kincaid.

It shouldn't be hard for our football staff to look around the country and identify some talented, experienced QB's who are on crap teams that may want to play for a title contender. If we want to inject the QB competition with some extra fuel, it wouldn't be that hard to do. Personally, hoping we do just that. May the best man win.

Don’t take my post as writing off any of our current QBs. Maybe they’ll come good. At the same time, I’m concerned about the position going into next year especially if the offensive staff is the same.

If you go after every shiny new thing you will destroy your locker room.

Use the portal to fill gaps and thin spots on your roster.

You bring in Maye and I guarantee Milroe and Simpson leave. You just told them flat out they are not good enough.

You can’t worry about who leaves, bring in the best and let them compete. That’s what we’ve done with guys like Jamo, Gibbs and Henry T. Worked out fine and anyone that left wasn’t good enough anyway.

This year just goes to show how quickly a team can take a down turn with just a few bad decisions.
