Do you expect any fringe juniors back?

It's happened before with Jon Allen coming back for his senior season.

We have several juniors that I think will have a fringe first round grade, but could have a 2-3 round grade.

Mckinney, Leatherwood, Wills, Smith, and Moses all fit the bill here. None of the above are first round "locks"

Najee will likely get a 2-3 round grade, but could feel he's maxed out his college potential (I don't feel that way, just stating he might)

We already know that Lewis is going pro.

That's 6 starters right there that I expect to be "on the fence." Those guys should be the ones the staff is recruiting the hardest over the next few months. Retention or subtraction on that group is the difference between competing for a title and going 10-2 or 9-3.

Gut feeling is that we lose them all, but i'm hoping that's just the general pessimism over the way things have been going lately

Wills can go. Dude is a penalty machine and he has cost us.

I feel like everyone you listed will declare.

Next season will be tough.

Xavier McKinney may. Dylan Moses may.

I think Najee will likely go. He's got low mileage and he's going to go higher than people think.

I think Devonta Smith is someone I think will take the chance of coming back. It will give him another year to get bigger, become a primary receiver, and perhaps vault himself into the top-10 for next year.

X is the one that I think is most likely to come back. He seems like a heady guy, and I think Saban can point to Deionte and Ronnie slipping in the draft and show him how much money they lost compared to first rounders at that position. X is probably the 2nd best safety in the draft behind the big kid at Clemson, but I still don't think he's a first round lock. Teams aren't going to reach on a safety when the BPA option is a lot better than X.

Leatherwood/Wills will be the third tackles on the board at best behind Thomas and Wirfs, so I think they'd be wise to come back as well.

I don't think that McKinney, Leatherwood, Willis, Smith, or Moses will grade out as highly as some people here think. Tua, Jeudy, and Harris are the only ones that should go.

I think all of those guys will get a 2-3 round grade. That hasn't stopped guys from jumping recently though.

I don't think some of those guys will even get a 2-3 round grade. Moses is recovering from his injury (and wasn't that impressive prior), McKinney has questionable coverage skills, Leatherwood and Willis both have had issues with penalties and speed edge rushers.

Hopefully after last years draft debacle with Thompson and Wilson these guys will reconsider leaving early.

I think that its kind of crazy that Smith gets so little hype from the talking heads. But I am kind of glad for selfish reasons, because that might make him come back.

Are you kidding? Have you really forgotten all the penalties Wills gets? False starts especially.

You’ve got to be kidding. Wills gets a ton of penalties. Hell he has 3 false start penalties in the Iron Bowl alone.

I think they are all gone:

Moses
Wills
McKinney
Jeudy
Smith
Ruggs
Najee
Tua
Leatherwood

Realistically, Bama could be looking at losing 8 starters on defense and 8 on offense when counting seniors.

Next year will be a total rebuild

That’s just crazy to me that we’re now at a point where every marginal player leaves early. It’s clearly starting to take its toll.

I think the coaching turnover is the bigger problem.

“Marginal” juniors are probably not as far along as they should be, probably for a few different reasons. Coaching turnover being the biggest, imo. I’m sure they’re still confident in their skills and why would they want to come back with yet ANOTHER coordinator and position a coaches?

Getting to your 2nd contract as early as you can is smart nowadays because the MASSIVE 1st round paydays aren’t there anymore.

I've totally accepted that any junior with a decent chance at being drafted in the top half of the draft is gone.

I'd sure as hell love to be proven wrong, though.
