Do you believe Faizon Brandon will start on Saturday for the Vols?

I'm 99% sure he will. He gives them the best chance against us. I still think Bama wins Saturday but he's a much better QB than McIntyre.

Neither one of them is very good.

I fully expect to see both play this Saturday.

Haven’t seen McIntyre play, but Brandon was not very good in the Texas game. He is talented, but just very young and inexperienced and that cost them the Texas game.

However, this is TSIO, I expect whoever they go with at QB to suddenly play like a pro against us.

Guaranteed. Whoever it is will be hitting with pinpoint accuracy deep down the middle on Saturday. And why not? Works for everyone else.

Fully expect Reed to suddenly look like Tom Brady the following week as well.

I'm not sure he does unless he's flushed his system and is willing to throw guys open. The Texas/Auburn games he almost refused to throw the ball unless a guy was standing still wide open. Granted, the way we've covered at times, that may also happen, but with their OL and his performance against good fronts so far I'd be just fine with him starting.

McIntyre is a bit of a gunslinger - I think he'd probably throw some picks but he also might get hot for 4 quarters and find guys.

Either way, the key to that game is their run game. If we slow/shut that down their QBs will have little to no chance. If they are getting 4-5 yards on first down their QBs will get easy throws and we will be in trouble.

Brandon against non-SEC teams: 41/64, 64%, 8.6 yards per pass, 6 TDs, 0 INTs, 167 QB rating. 5.2 yards per carry, 3 rushing TDs.

Brandon against SEC teams: 20/37, 54%, 3.9 yards per pass, 1 TD, 1 INT, 90 QB rating. -.2 yards per carry, 0 rushing TDs.

The guy stinks.

Can I ask why you think this? Brandon certainly has talent, but he’s looked completely out of his depth so far.

McIntyre has looked more consistent against power conference opponents.

Yeah I’m not even sure UT’s OL is that bad. Against Texas, half of TU’s sacks were Brandon scrambling into the arms of a defender from a clean pocket.

For people saying all QBs look great against Bama so far only 1 guy has completed over 60% of his passes (Stockton) and only 1 guy had more TDs than INTs (Taylor).

I feel the rivalry aspect increases the chances of awakening Johnny Footballesque abilities, but I hope I’m wrong.

He’s a true freshman QB starting out of necessity behind one of the worst OLs in the conference.

I don’t think he’s looked very good YTD but I also dont think anyone should’ve expected him to.

He's not good under pressure. But if they run the ball effectively, and our pass rush is subpar again, then he is capable of making enough throws for them to move the ball and score points.

I wouldn't be surprised if he starts. If Heupel believes Brandon gives Tennessee its best chance to win, there's no reason to hold him back.

That said, throwing a freshman quarterback into a game against our D is a tall order regardless of how talented he is.

I expect us to pressure him, force mistakes and control the game. I don't care which quarterback Tennessee starts. Alabama is winning Saturday.

He's a much better athlete than McIntyre. I agree he's green but he can run and can zing that ball. McIntyre is a slow footed QB. He CAN run but I think any our DL could chase him down.

With our injuries and struggles in the secondary I’m honestly not what we can hang our hat on right now defensively.

On offense I’m a little nervous about Waldrep at C and losing RCW is going to change how defensive coordinators defend us.

Assuming Brooks can go we still have a vertical threat to keep safeties honest, if they’re both out or out/dinged they’ll make us prove we can hurt them downfield before the safeties play us honest. Guess we’ll find out if Rogers is ready to be who they said he was in fall camp because we probably need him to be.

Part of the reason the TEs were feasting is because RCW and Brooks were stretching them vertically, gonna be much harder sledding against these good to elite defenses if we don’t have that for this gauntlet we’re in.
