I don't think this at all. I think it's gonna be a low scoring slug fest. Neither team has much explosiveness and both defenses match up well with the others offense.

I agree 100%. And I think Harbaugh will prepare better than Kirby. Michigan's second TD saturday was a 75 yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage after a punt. They also were 50-50 pass-run on first down until they got up about 3 TDS.

All of that tells me that Michigan, while they certainly don't have BY, have a serviceable enough QB to play fast, mix it up and throw on 1st down, take occasional deep shots, and do everything else we did to tire out Georgia's front seven. Just get the ball out of the QB's hands quickly. And when that happens, Michigan certainly has an OL and running game capable of taking over.

I fully expect Michigan to win.

Honestly I would rather play Michigan. The only rematch I ever cared for was the 2011 Alabama and LSU.

The possible rematch with Georgia bores me. I would love for Michigan to be legit and have a game to remember with them.

The main reason why I prefer Mich is it would mean that UGA lost another big game under Kirby.
It would make our win an even-more devastating lost for UGA, when you consider this was suppose to be Kirby's best shot as the number one seed drawing a Ciny. That's what the ESPN's of the world have been wishing for the past 30 days with UGA as there number one seed.

They also are gonna take a hit defensively personnel wise if a lot of those jr's also leave for the league.
A much weaker Uga next yr puts Kirby into like yrs 6-7 with hardly anything to show for it..Its gonna make them and maybe some recruits to finally start to question UGA evermore.

I think Mich vs UGA is a 50/50 game because Mich qb will struggle more and Mich can give up big runs on quick hitters. That's what Cook and 3 can hit you with.We do match up better against Uga, but you never want a playoff rematch game after you dominated a team.
But Mich vs Bama is like playing UGA anyway.
SO I would rather Mich who needs the run vs our good run defense. If metchie had not gotten hurt I like we work Mich's secondary like we did UGA's.

But Mich has book end DE's and our Owens will need to play a game of his life.We wont ware Mich out with play count because they Sub a lot anyway.

I would rather UGA not make it!

I don’t know much Georgia is gonna be able to score on them. They are absolutely good enough on defense to slow their run game and to bring out Gunslinger Stetson Bennett (which is the worst kind of Stetson Bennett). Georgia has shown little to no ability to dial up explosive plays when they really need them. I also like Michigan’s run game more than UGAs. I think they cover the +7.5

Georgia's OL will handle Michigan. If Kirby is smart he'll ram it down their undersized throats.

Prefer Michigan. But 90 percent chance it’s UGA. We did give Michigan a pretty good blueprint but just not sure they have the horses to execute it.

Agreed. And I think Michigan can hold up against UGA's offense pretty well. But I don't know how they score much. You aren't going to be able to march the field many times on UGA. You've got to hit explosive plays in the passing game. Don't think UM has the QB or WRs to do it.

Yep. And Georgia's defense is going to look a lot more like the "historically great" defenses everyone was talking about pre-SECCG against Michigan. I don't think Michigan has the matchups on that side of the ball to score much. This feels like a Georgia 23 - Michigan 13 type game.

I expect both teams to completely sell out to stop the run, and they probably expect that of each other as well, so it will be really interesting to see if either of those two ultraconservative coaches says frick it and comes out guns ablaze the way we did on 1/9.

Michigan's starting DL:
Hutchinson - 6'6, 265
Hinton - 6'4, 310
Smith - 6'3, 326
Ojabo - 6'5, 250

Bama's starting DL:
Young - 6'3, 292
Smith - 6'4, 308
Mathis - 6'4, 312
Anderson - 6'4, 243

I mean, I don't see a whole lot of size discrepancy there.

I think many people have come out of the SEC Championship game with a skewed perspective on UGA's offense. Bennett threw 2 absolutely back-breaking picks , one of which led directly to 7 points for us, and Kirby made some bad decisions on when to kick and when to go. Otherwise they still rolled up 450 yards and 30 first downs while maintaining almost 35 minutes of TOP. And Brock Bowers was pretty dominant. We didn't shut their offense down. We simply kept it between the 20's. Pretty similar to what Clemson did to us a few years ago.

Yep. I came out of that game thinking that Georgia looked pretty good on offense. Bama is less consistent but more explosive which won the day this time.

Bama didn't really control that game like the score would indicate. The first and fourth quarters were not very good. Hated not being able to put the game away on offense with those quick three and outs after the 3rd quarter TD.

But at this point I think we just have to realize that is not who this Bama team is. Bama needs the explosive plays and sometimes the broken plays more so than just imposing their will on teams. We got the explosive plays Saturday, but games just feel dicier when you are depending on explosive/broken plays rather than just controlling the other team methodically.

Thank God we have Bryce Young and Jameson Williams and they don't.

We also missed a surefire pick 6 on their first possession.

Stetson isn't bad, but in two games he hasn't been good enough to make the clutch plays to stay in the game with us.

He was pretty good in the first half against us last year too, but in both games he came unraveled in the second half. A big part of that is that Saban/Golding knows what he is, and knows how to shake him up.

I said it before the game, and last Saturday only reenforced my opinion: UGA doesn't have any serious playmakers on offense besides Bowers, which is why they threw to him 16 times.

Georgia really doesn’t have this amazing run game though. They are merely good as far as yards per carry. They’ve blown team out because they were just good enough offensively to make the other team panic and make a mistake against that defense. Michigan should slow them down though and flip the pressure like we did

This matchup features two really good defenses facing decent but limited quarterbacks with few explosive weapons. That’s a recipe for a close game

Agreed. People say that Georgia is not explosive on offense and I beg to differ. Bowers is an absolute stud who made incredible contested catches and that one TD run he had in the fourth quarter was an awesome individual play. I can't believe that he's a true freshman. Zamir White is also an impressive running back. I'm honestly surprised that they didn't run he and Kenny McIntosh more. Their defense also surprised me not crowding the line of scrimmage like LSU and Auburn did. In the second half they started blitzing more and Bryce was rattled. I'm not sure if we can replicate that performance in a rematch. We played out of our minds.

I'm somewhere in between. I felt like our offense was good almost the entire game - even early when we didn't score. We looked comfortable, got some easy throws, weren't behind the chains, etc. There was a clear adjustment period when Metchie went out, and then we got the pick 6 and went into run/short pass mode. I never felt like they imposed their will defensively on us at all.

On the other side, we definitely played bend but don't break. We didn't shut them down really at all, but we made them march the entire field and do it in a lot of plays (except for the awful quick TD post-Pick 6). And that's just really frickin hard to do for an offense, especially against a solid defense. Plus, because we held their run in check, it meant Stet had to make quick reads and great throws inside the red zone where everything was compressed.

I mean, they aren't explosive.

Explosive is Jameson Williams scoring on 2 40+ yard bombs. They don't have that. Haven't all year.

Bowers is great, but isn't a threat to get 6 pts from UGAs side of the field. He's a threat to get 30 yards, but the drive then still had to be completed. And that means they have to score from inside the red zone.

Their RBs are very solid, but they are not explosive at all. They are very similar to Brian Robinson. They don't break off very many runs over 15+ yards.

They are an extremely efficient, but very non-explosive offense. That generally works against average and bad defenses, but it can really get gummed up against athletic, solid defenses because it means you end up having to score from the short field against really good athletes in a confined space a lot. And that isn't easy.

Alabama was able to run tempo and expose Georgia's secondary. I'm not sure that Michigan is capable of doing that. Bryce's ability to create is what hurt Georgia and I don't think that either of Michigan's quarterbacks has that type of ability.

I'm interested to see if we get Leary and JoJo Earle involved more with Metchie out. They're explosive athletes, albeit inexperienced. Williams is the home run threat but we need to find some answers quick.

I agree. I think Michigan will struggle to score offensively. Their entire offense is based around running the ball, and they'll be held to a draw at best in that area.
