Bad idea.

This is exactly what college football is for. It’s for families. If you want a bunch of 32 year olds screaming drunken profanities, the NFL ain’t far off.

Please go be an Auburn fan and embarrass that fan base.

They playing it in the 4th quarter to try and keep everyone around?

It's also for students of the university who should be allowed to have their own brand of fun. I have no problem with it. They sang those obscenities in the song when I was there from '08-'12 and I don't remember anyone ever saying a word. It's when the students went overboard with it and it made it onto ESPN that it finally became an issue.

Yea, the 2014 Auburn game was the only time it was really an issue because it was so loud and so in unison and over and over and over and it was broadcast pretty loudly on ESPN.
My guess is enough people don't loudly yell FVCK that it's muffled between nothing/beat/fvck that it's not a problem. And that's fine.

I do have to laugh about people going to the mattresses over chanting “frick” as if it’s no big deal. I’ve always thought our admin was a little too buttoned up when it came to things but let’s be real here. I am not one to judge anyone because Lord knows I can have a few too many and yell some colorful language in the stands, (pretty sure everyone in my section heard me call Jimbo a bad names when he was calling TOS a few weeks ago)....but I’m not going to clutch my pearls if someone has an issue with it.
That said, I think it can be done right. The “frick Auburn/Tennessee/LSU” was not always the main part of the song. Alabama has the best tradition in college football, but we have very few original and organic gameday traditions. I think that sort of contributes to the notion that BDS isn’t as “intimidating” of an atmosphere when compared to others. Dixieland Delight is one of them. So I hope everyone doesn’t mind dialing it back a smidge for the sake of keeping it around. I think it could last beyond this weekend as long as the extra words aren’t emphatically chanted by everyone like they were in 2014.

100% yes to all of it

I think a fair compromise would be "beat" for all games but the Iron Bowl. If Auburn is in the stadium I think we have a duty to tell them to frick off though.
Just the once though. Not repeatedly like in 2014.

This is the official plan of action. Pass it along to all friends and family.

Yeah. Nothing says "intimidating" like Dixieland Delight.

Fair point, but I'll say it's a pretty electric environment when the whole crowd is singing along and getting down. I doubt it really intimidates any opponents or their fans, but it's a fun moment in the stands when it's played. The 2013 LSU game was my favorite version. I wasn't at the 2014 Iron Bowl, but it got a lot of coverage on ESPN, so no surprise it got yanked.

See, my first thought was that our AD figured the students would be gone by the 4th qtr so there wouldnt be nearly as much foul language. Maybe they should have a class on how to act in public.

Maybe it’s just me, and I’m not saying I really take issue with it, but I’m surprised that “hold her up tight (against the wall)” isn’t the more scrutinized part of the alternate lyrics in our current climate.

I personally don't really give a frick about whether or not Dixieland Delight is played, but if people really enjoy it, then I think that it is stupid not to play it. I don't see it as a big deal at all for students to yell "frick" to the song in unison. It is just a word, and kids likely hear much worse from Billy Joe Johnson sitting next to them in the stands. Hell, my brother used to play Too Short for us on the reg when I was in elementary school, and I turned out just fine.

I go to games to watch the game. I am not sure why all the fuss from people who want a song. Is this widespread across age groups or a particular age group that wants this to return.

How long are you inside of the stadium for a game?
How many minutes of actual game time takes place?

Is it ok to teach a 4 year boy that he can be a girl if he wants to be?
Not to make this political, but the Left pushes this kind of crap then cringes when someone says frick is comical.
Like that line from Apocalypse Now, "We train young men to drop fire on people but their commanders won't allow them to write frick on their Airplanes because it's obscene."
The whole thing is silly.

This would have some merit were Alabama not a deeply red and conservative state.
Do you really think it was the "damn libruls!" that forced the Alabama administration to stop playing it?

I mean, I don't think it's something that should be encouraged or accepted by a parent, no.

Well, I'm not on "the left", and I don't think girls should be encouraged to be boys, and I like the idea of passing along Alabama football to my kids without having them hear, clearly and loudly, "FVCK" 15 times in a row. But maybe I should just accept that Alabama Football games are Thunderdome or something and understood that kids should either not show up or be prepared to turn 21 as they walk in the gate.
Or maybe I'm just a crazy snowflake or something.

George, I'm not judging you, so my apologies if I misrepresented my intentions. I was simply trying to illustrate how one thing is pushed as ok, but another is deemed inappropriate.
