lol. LSU didn’t even love him as DC…until he was gone. But still. First name that came to mind

Yes, great hire, he has proven to be an outstanding cornerbacks coach and recruiter

Not at all. I'm saying it's a fricking waste of time and basically stupid.

Some of you guys are doing exactly the same thing as you say the bigwig power brokers SHOULDN'T do, except you have zero power. Imagine three or four bigwigs sitting around doing the same thing only in real life.

Speculating about who he might hire is one thing. Sitting around all day wringing your hands and saying he needs to do this or needs to do that is pointless. Then after he doesn't hire your guy, people start to bitch before even the first day of practice.

People need to accept the fact that he's probably not going to hire the guy they want. And they need to get on board and get over it...just as we would want those fat cat boosters to do.

Wonder if his “sacrifice” includes his Co-DC salary to be an analyst?

I think that is part of it, but he and Muschamps also recruitrd some NFL talent. It is more than that. Doesn't mean has hasn't learned and wouldn't do the job now, but I wouldn't consider him a sure thing at DC.

I wouldn't last long but I would asked Nick if Trob can do a good job as DC and if he said Yes then I would pay the man. Even if I knew after one year I was going in another direction. Same with Freddie. My thinking is my azz is in a bind and I am going to try my best to keep these players I have on the roster as of today.

In other words, I am punting the ball and hoping for an inside the 10 kick.

Yeah I think having to "part ways" after your first season following the Goat would mean you are not long for this world . I do get why you would consider that strategy.

Honestly I have skepticism that Saban was recommending him. He had the option to make him DC or Co-DC before. Maybe I'm off and he didn't have time this go round.

The other thing about TRob is he almost always works for a defensive head coach and had a co-coordinator thay can help. Tuberville, Diaz, Muschamps, Saban, now Kirby. That doesn't mean he isn't capable, but (sans support from Saban) he would be on his own for the first time.

That kind of sound logic can get your arse tar-and-feathered around here, amigo.

We should get Kirby Smart to be the DC if we can't get Aranda.

Kevin Steele made it sound like he had inside information that TRob would be moving up "very soon." He knew he was retiring, and clearly thought the guy was going to get an interview so to say.

For me it's gotten a little personal with Kirby thinking he can raid our staff like he's big dick on campus.

I would really like to take Schumann by offering him the full DC position, or hire TRob back as full DC simply to send a message to Athens that we still run shite. You'd think us beating their brains out 9 out of 10 last games would clear that up but kirby is proving to be a ruthless coach. Good for him.

Funny, you were frothing at the mouth for Lane Kiffin, who most certainly was blacklisted by Saban. I thought you were leaving? You should go to the SECrant, you can speak your mind freely and they will love you

He was likely moving up but Saban would have still been there. My guess is he would have been co-DC as well, but to be fair I have no way of knowing that.

Either way I don't think DeBoer could or should be comfortable with TRob having to run the defense completely by himself for the first time without a D head coach or a Co-coordinator, even with a Saban endorsement. It is begging for problems that could harm his tenure.

As this isn't me disliking TRob if they offered him full DC and he accepted I would jump right on board, I would just have my concerns.
