Not sure why Dan Patrick would be hearing this when no one else has said they have heard this.

What if Bama leaks this story as a ploy to get OU focused on defending Jalen...and then Tua walks out to start the game.

I wouldn't be surprised. It was an extremely optimistic timeline that he would be ready and it's virtually impossible that he'll be 100%.

I have faith in Jalen though against Oklahoma. They are undisciplined and can't tackle. An improviser built like a rhinoceros isn't an ideal situation for them either.

OU is preparing for both because that's what even a PeeWee coach would do.

If he doesn’t play then we have been mislead . From all reports it wasn’t as bad as Jalens with little to no ligament damage. With a full month off and the first 2 weeks of no practice AND Tua saying he would practice , I expect him to play until other info comes out

Ok, listen, I like being the bad guy in college football. I enjoy seeing people hate Alabama because they're not Alabama.

Having said that, if you wanted the feel-good story of the decade in sports, let Jalen Hurts lead this team to a National Championship and you will see die-hard, anti-Bama people pulling for the Tide.

But I also really like the storyline where Tua goes out and lights up Oklahoma while Alabama's defense shuts down Murray and proves who really deserved the Heisman.

I'm thinking this is one of those diversion tactics. Saban likes to keep this kind of stuff has hush/hush as possible.

I remember leading up to the Orange Bowl with ND, a lot of questions around Barret Jones playing in the BCSCG. He had hurt his ankle and sort of worsened it in the SECCG against UGA. I remember a lot of speculation about whether or not he would play and not getting to practice, all the while a buddy (insider) kept telling me that Jones would be playing, bank on it.

Sure enough Jones played, and we all know how that game went. He even shoved AJ for getting a little too mouthy with him, even after the game was well in hand.

Two weeks is the usual time to return after the procedure.

I'm with you that it seems odd that Dan Patrick of all people would have inside info, however the underlying point that Tua would be "iffy" for the game isn't all that surprising.

Well duh. The absolute minimum return time is 2 weeks for this surgery, with the normal time being up to 4 weeks. Even if we would be playing vs OU, I don't think any of us expected him to be 100%.

If we can get past OU with Jalen, we will need him for Clemson.

Because he is a nationally respected and well connected sports media figure?

I get that. What I’m saying is that it’s weird that we haven’t heard this out of any of the more local sources. Not saying he is wrong or right.

Whether Tua will be available or not isn't even a question. You can question whether he will be 100%, but he's going to be available.

Think Dan was the first one that broke the news that Alabama would play USC in Dallas a few years ago. He's got good sources.

Patrick probably hasn't heard anything more that what the rest of us have heard. No one on the Alabama staff has said that Tua will definitely play against Oklahoma. It's all "hope, should, we think", etc, etc. So yeah, you can interpret all that as "iffy". "Iffy" could be defined as anything less than definite, and no one has said he's definitely playing. Bottom line: there's no story here.

Of course it's a question. Just because two weeks is normal doesn't mean there can't be setbacks. He could aggravate it in practice. It will remain a question until he gets through all the practices leading up to the game with no setbacks.

no ligament damage

Who told you that? They don't do the tightrope surgical procedure unless the joint has been destabilized.

It was on this board or someone linked an article here or twitter but the exact words were it was a “clean” sprain with little to no ligament damage unlike Jalens .
