Love those booster rumors.

I know one thing: Bryne has his list already made and updates it from time to time. We can all agree on that. I just pray Dabo doesn't drag the performance out when it the time comes.

He is tainted. I want nothing to do with him anymore. The awe shucks thing is insufferable.

With the skill guys Dabo has been pillaging from around the country, his program won't be getting stale anytime soon. This will be his best-recruiting cycle of many really good ones.

The only crack in the dam I could possibly foresee is the exact same one I see at Alabama. They finally get some takers to offer their assistant coaches better jobs and struggle to get the same production with the new guys. At this point, Alabama looks a lot closer to the edge than Clemson.

Then I have spent way too much money and time going to Alabama games.

1 thing I've noticed is when Clemson gets down 10+ Dabo has the look of a sad little kid who didn't get that toy he wanted.
Defeated, we're not coming back type look.

I'd had a couple drinks last night when I posted that. "Scumbag" is too harsh a word and not entirely fair, and for that I apologize.

I think his act and parts of his "comeback" story are phony, but that doesn't necessarily make him a scumbag.

The original question asked in this post is whether WE would want Dabo to become the HC of Alabama after Saban steps down, not if Dabo wants to come.

My answer would be: yes, I would want Dabo Swinney to become the next HC at Alabama.

Why?
- Because after Saban he is the most successful (active) head coach in college football.
- He has proven how to win the biggest games.
- He has a proven track record as a recruiter
- He has proven to be able to hire and retain an excellent coaching staff.
- He has proven to be able to coach up talent.
- He has Bama roots so he understands how things work around here, which is a bonus.
- And if he brings along (part of) his (proven) staff, that’s fine with me.

I want only the very best for Alabama. Right now the very best, together with CNS, is Dabo.

I don't want him. He's a sore loser and it's very obvious if you have paid any attention he got a show cause from Bama and was heavily involved in what lead to our probation.

You don't just go from selling commercial real estate to a power 5 position coach.

The last game Dabo coached without Venebles his team got 70 hung on them in a bowl game, DO NOT WANT.

Dabo is the Bear Bryant of Clemson. He is not leaving that throne to come to Alabama and be just another statue in our pantheon.
But never liked Dabo, never appealed to me. But if he does decide to come I'll hold my nose and accept him because he does know how to win. Plus he is from UA.

I think what Dabo has to sell at Clemson to keep assistants there - a lighter workload simply won't be available at Bama. Dabo can afford to give his assistants a day extra off each week. You can't do that in the SEC or your lunch will be eaten. Can you imagine the fan base with Dabo giving the coaching staff an extra day off each week and we lose to LSU or Auburn or Ole Miss or A&M or MSU? The SEC is too competitive.

I don't even mention the money because if you're getting a comparable salary at Clemson that you would at Bama but Clemson offers you a lighter workload Clemson for many is far and away a better gig than Bama.

At this rate, I don't consider anyone who doesn't want Dabo a legitimate Alabama fan. More than likely, they became fans after 2007...

Wanting Dabo actually sounds like a very pre-2007 thing. "He played for us...he coached under Stallings...he's from here...etc".

I can live with your decision. Now, why not just go ahead and promise to quit talking to all those non-Bama fans altogether?

Tosh Lupoi.

Surely you jest, sir. That man was the beginning of the end of Bamas dominant defenses. As bad as Golding is he unseated Lupoi... marinate on that for a moment. Scary.

The only current realistic options are Dabo, Pruitt, Mario, or Lincoln Riley if hes not going to the NFL and Bama makes him the highest paid coach in the country.

Of that list Riley is the safer investment seeing as how he is definitely one of the best offensive minds in the country. All anyone knows for sure about Dabo is he can flat out recruit. Gotta have a H.C. that is his own best coordinator on at least one side of the ball e.g. Saban was always the brain behind the defense.

Scrolling social media a little this morning and I feel almost like I'm leading a double life. My Facebook feed was filled with Bama fans hailing Dabo and loving him, while my Twitter feed was filled with Bama fans hating Dabo and not wanting him as Bama's next coach.
