Enough is enough. I was ok with losing some arguably un-dedicated players like Bond and Niblack.

Downs doesn’t fit that to me. UGA opened up the wallet. Sure T-Rob and Saban blah blah, nah frick that. Pay this mf what we paid Young and other star players are making in multiple millions if you have to. Even if it’s partially out of sending a message.

ANTE THE frick UP. Hell I’ll pay some. I’m not loaded, but I will help the cause. If I know it’s going to a player or players that are crucial, I’ll sleep nice and hard.

I’m going to see this as a massive loss not just because he’s our best player, but out of the message that it is sending. fricking stand up and say frick you back. Players make the game, no different than any other sport that star players are paid a premium. If this is the game, at least don’t lose your top 5 pick safety. For fricks sake. It’s insane that he even got into the portal. That tells me that we financially aren’t as serious as I hoped we were about winning and treat it more about margins for the University. Suck a dick

Byrne and the collectives better fricking figure it out or their comfy spots at the table will be gone. Just like the big wigs that were at the top when franchione and Shula were coaches.

fricks

It’s probably going to be Ohio State, not UGA

We simply don't have the money from the alumni base to compete on an equal footing with the biggest programs in CFB. It's pro football with no salary cap now. Having the best coaches or the most legendary football program in history means next to nothing.

Thank you. Isn’t there more than 1?

Who’s making the decisions on who gets what?

Pretty sure our nil approach under Nick was to pay everyone equally as well as to not create discourse on the team at least when it came from the school directed funds.

Obviously Downs could have gone and got NIL deals from other places, but that would require some effort on his part.

So this might be a natural progression of how these things work out.

Idk a ton about how Yea Alabama money gets distributed, but it is our only collective that I am aware of.

Nothing is stopping a business or businesses from signing these players to huge deals though. Ultimately, our alumni base just doesn’t have as deep of pockets as a lot of these other schools.

It's like people forget our fanbase is from a state that has only 5 miliion people and 40% of them are non-Bama fans in one of the poorest states in the country.

Lame excuse. We have multiple billionaires who are alumnus status for multiple generations.

Just my friend group and my family could come up with enough to be in the 6 figures if we banded together. If every Alabama fan we had spent it on NIL even if it was 20 bucks, we would be able to pay our upper echelon players what they deserve. It’s a matter of getting the message out to the state. And the collectives haven’t done a good job of seeking it.

We are doing a tremendous disservice to these young men by teaching them that loyalty can be bought. That's all this is, mercenary football. Transferring to another school is one thing, but this NIL bullshite is completely and totally corrupt to the core. There are no obligations, no responsibility, no accountability with it whatsoever.

I’m going to guess you didnt know the Paul Bryant Jr is a BILLIONAIRE. With a B.

You think those dog tracks, concrete companies, banks, real estate agencies, and stock portfolios aren’t making money?

The Hewson family collectively are billionaires.

And a slew of super lawyers over 9 figures.

According to Forbes magazine, there are only 735 billionaires in the US. I doubt our percentage is as high as you say. We’re not as poor as some folks are saying but it’s not productive to get ahead of our skis here.

Do we deal with the landscape as it is or sit and pout because we don’t like the way it is?

Brother. I don’t disagree. But if we don’t play the game with the rules we have right now, we are fricked. Sooner the regulations come, the better, I agree. But if we don’t pay them someone else will, and they’ll win. You don’t have to do that with every player, but this guy is a proven player. We gotta survive this until regulations come out.

Nobody can compete with the Texas schools. Their big boosters are making generational wealth each quarter.

The only answer to fixing CFB to where it’s competitively balanced is to make it professional. That’s it. And once you do that fans will eventually lose some interest.

The cat is out of the bag and it ain’t going back in.

College Bball is easier for coaches to deal with because rosters are way easier to manage and you can actually win with great coaching.

In CFB it typically comes down to who can amass the most talent on the LOS. Not always but it’s mostly the case. Not much you can do to overcome a massive talent gap on the LOS.

This is the way. We cannot get into bidding wars for individual players. You dont win with bought players. A&M has already shown this
