2021 Coaching Carousel updates (247)

quote:

Dec. 10

Virginia Tech: Louisville assistant Stu Holt has been hired as Virginia tech's special teams coordinator and offensive assistant.

Oklahoma: Brent Venables announced his first two assistant coaching hires Friday, naming Jeff Lebby as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Ted Roof as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Venables is retaining Cale Gundy, Bill Bedenbaugh, DeMarco Murray and Joe Jon Finley as well.

Oregon: Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is expected to be announced Monday as Oregon's head coach,  reports Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, but sources tell 247Sports' Matt Prehm the report is inaccurate. Stay tuned.

Duke: Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko is now the leading candidate at Duke, reports Carl Reed of 247Sports. We reported earlier this week Tony Elliott and Elko had emerged as the top targets, and now with Elliott heading to Virginia, Elko rising to the top makes sense.

BYU: BYU coach Kalani Sitake has signed a new "unprecedented" contract to remain at BYU through the 2027 season, the school announced. He was briefly pursued by Oregon following a 10-2 season that included five wins against Pac-12 teams.

Ohio State: Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles signed a three-year contract worth $1.9 million per year at Ohio State. He was reportedly offered a five-year deal worth $1.3 million annually to remain at Oklahoma State.

Virginia: Virginia has hired Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott to lead the program.

Louisiana Tech: Louisiana Tech is adding Stephen F. Austin assistants Marcus Walker and Nathan Young to coach the cornerbacks and offensive line, respectively, and TCU assistant Dan Sharp has been hired as special teams coach, reports Chris Vannini of The Athletic. Running backs coach Brock Hays and outside linebackers coach Anthony Camp will remain at the school.

Looks like Elko to Duke. I bet we won't see many defensive decommits from TAMU .

Also Ted Roof is amazing at getting jobs.

Saban has had years where he's lost almost his entire staff, and had to start from scratch. If all curbedy loses is his DC he'll be alright, especially is Schumann is expected to seamlessly step in.

Is Golding still expected to go to Louisiana ?

Curious if Bama could grab Schumann. Is nobody in the SEC interested in trying to hire Matt Luke or Tray Scott ?

Dabo to the Raiders and in professional football would be a worse culture fit than Kelly and LSU so I am all for it.

So Dan Lanning to Oregon after all. Wouldn't be shocked to see Glenn to with him and be his Defensive coordinator.

Golding isn’t leaving or getting pushed out this year. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Pruitt come in as an analyst and take over late next season though as Golding leaves for a new job. I just don’t think we’ll get clearance on Pruitt and the cycle is wrapped up by now
