Stacking elite QB prospects makes complete sense to me. Playing portal roulette with the position is risky.

Absolutely.

I think the portal path at QB should be absolute last resort and is an indication you can’t identify and develop talent.

It’s also death to QB depth because no one worth having wants to stay and develop after you already have shown you will bring people in over their head because you don’t think you are that guy.

I mostly mean that there’s stacking QB depth and what we’re doing:
KR
Scott
Preyear
Haven
Seaborn
Thomalla
Kaawa

No one has that. No one has anything close to that. Most of those guys have high level P5 ceilings, even if a few are projects.

Obviously it’s a luxury that should pay dividends in the future because of his ability to ID and develop guys at that position, I’m just hoping it isn’t impacting our ability to sign impact guys at other positions if we are committing that much money to that many prospects at one position.

But it’s CKDs show and I have a lot of faith that he’s going to have us operating at an elite level even if that isn’t what we were peak Saban due to the changes in the competitive landscape.

I love how we are clearly DBU yet LSU fans try to pretend they are.

I love how Derrick Henry is everything they thought Fournette would be.

I get the feeling we’ve been the troll hat on his table for awhile now and that’s the only reason our name stays attached to him.

Still, it adds a bit of excitement/expectation to an otherwise boring (sportswise) July. Hoping for the hat with the script A!

I wonder if Bone is being brought in with maybe some other staff to bring info to the Yea Alabama board.

I’ve often wondered if that could move the needle a bit to add additional subscriptions. Like I’ve never paid for Rivals/247/On3 but I do subscribe to Yea and I wonder if they had some recruiting info like those sites if it might boost membership.

Bit of a interesting situation though because I don’t know what the situation is where if Yea employees technically count as university employees and if so are they restricted from mentioning recruits in the same way that Grubb can’t say a recruits name publicly until he signs.

Could also be that his bedroom looks like the bryant museum.

Yeah I figured as much. I imagine there’s some issues with collectives tied to the university being able to share info about recruits. Makes sense.

I agree. Why would we want a stud 6'5" receiver that will be a difference maker?

I assume that there are a lot of kids around the nation who idolized guys like Tua, Henry, Smith, Young, etc like guys my age would idolize the SoCal stars of the early to mid aughts.

Those days are over in the nation’s mind. When we lost to Vandy in 2024 and got stuffed in a locker by Indiana in 2025, that broke the spell of the Saban era Alabama mystique.

Edit: We can be an elite program still but we are not going to be able to trade on an over half decade old title and the next one almost a decade old with high schoolers anymore. Most were probably barely following football in 2020.
