Yeah fair enough. I just can’t imagine why you’d go to Oregon when your whole family has been at Bama. Just sucks that possibly the best of the three will end up with Lanning.

Unfortunately you can’t stack your roster anymore. Just have to be better at development and key adds in the portal. Alabama has a lot of financial commitment at the WR position already. They were never going to be able to sign 2-3 elite guys there this cycle.

You're probably right but I feel like we damn sure need to sign either Sales or Gayles this cycle. I don't have a problem with a smaller class but that puts a lot of pressure to get a good portal class and not crumbs out of the portal.

Not panicking but it's a bit alarming we seem to be getting outspent by Ole Miss. I get it, we're never going to be spending like Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Oregon, etc but IF we're getting outspend by OM, that's concerning.

If the coaching staff is confident in the roster makeup for 2027, which this recruiting cycle reflects, why should they spend for spendings sake? Regardless it’s only June. And then there’s still the portal.

People need to stop thinking in terms of the way it was.

It makes you wonder if some of these early commitments are really just a ploy to get more money from another school.

I'm OK with the middle brother getting the offer. At least Bama is playing the game by cementing positive relationships with the entire family. The youngest is still a viable Bama prospect. A great deal of time before signing day!

Nope. That cash is going to roster retention because the team is so young. It's the reason the class is so small.

Correct.

It’s also correct that a team that young means it’s a rebuilding year, but that will make posters on this board irrationally angry.

The Puke Orange has entered the NIL auction race with a loaded bank roll this year, according to Wiltfong. They will be bidding against the usual suspects. They just got at least 5 commits after a big last weekend.
We should be comfortably ensconced behind TX, A&M, LSU,Ole Miss, Tn, maybe even GA and Florida in NIL spends. Let’s see if the results match their profligacy or our frugality.

I know recruiting has changed from what it was, but I'd still like to see a few 4 or 5 stars coming in on the OL and DL.

These days if we're ranked in the top 10 at the end I'm fine...but seems we're lacking in defensive stud difference makers...at this point in time at least.

You’re right. Roster-wise it makes sense for it to be a rebuild but I don’t think DeBoer can afford for it to be a rebuild. The way 2025 ended is going to put him in brick through windows territory quickly this Fall if it’s a rebuild.

The extension was given for a reason. Think he mainly can’t lose to AU, that’s by far the most important game but especially when you’re teetering on the fan perception meter.

9-3 with a win over AU would be a decent rebuilding season for fans that aren’t idiots. 8-4 is on the table, though, and a loss to AU would cause this board to go nuclear

8-4 with a win over Auburn to end the year is probably the bottom end of what fans will begrudgingly tolerate. Ultimately the contract makes it moot beyond the grousing on talk radio and message boards.

A rebuilding year, meaning 4-5 losses and you will see heads exploding.

Overtime OT7 Playoffs: Day 1 Top Performers

quote:

3. WR Osani Gayles

Gayles was the go to guy for his talented Raw squad. He’s one of the fastest receivers in the event and when you add his wiggle and advanced route running, he’s one of the toughest covers in the country. You can line him up anywhere and he took reps in the slot, out wide and in motion. He made explosive plays down the field and had several touchdowns near the goal line because of his ability to create immediate separation. Gayles recently cut his list to a final three that includes Alabama, Stanford and Washington and should be an impact player early in college.
