I think Alabama is happy with the OL class they’ll sign and what’s coming back. Any unexpected departures might change that though. Keeping Pritchett was important.

Isn't he a package deal with Nolan?

I think TA&M used him pretty ineffectively, and he was surrounded by more 'high profile' players. I think he's solid, with the potential to be great. He will definitely see the field, and provide value to the DL.

Also, I think this is an opportunity to see Saban's mindset towards portal players...and how it may differ from Ole Miss. Ole Miss is happy to play the bidding war. I don't think Saban entertains that quite as much. Nolan is out there asking for 7 figures, and its pretty well known that its simply a bidding war. I'm not gonna act like LT isn't getting money, but I think it was a smart move to pursue him over Nolan. Why break the bank on a player that has demonstrated greed above all (Nolan) when you can get a guy at a 'discount' who should provide exactly what you need and who appears to have good competitive character from his interviews. LT seems like he wants to compete and develop. Saban isn't chasing the shiny toy, or getting into insane bidding wars. I think he's being incredibly smart and picky.

Can we really say Nolan demonstrated greed over anything? I dont think its greedy going to the highest bidder. This is what college football made. Cant blame him.

I’m not even arguing Nolan doesn’t have an extremely high ceiling, but to your point does the guy have the drive to play for Bama?

Does he have a team attitude?

Jon Allen has talked about the intangibles you need to be successful under Saban and watching guys who are very talented and in the portal now laugh on the sidelines last year while their teams got blown out im more convinced than ever that talent alone isn’t enough to win, much less sustain success.

Yall stop that. That kid didnt get to where he is by not having drive. I just think his handlers who is supposedly his father is controlling the situation and telling him to go where the money is. A lot of these kids believe they can be successful anywhere. Also he was the kid who was in tears after we beat them last year.

In Nolan's case, I believe we can. And it seems pervasive in his family if his father has stepped in to try and drive prices up further. Do I know this for certain? No, and that's fair.

I think the portal can cause player greed, but it doesn't have to...I think finding the hidden gems with competitive character is the smart play. And to clarify, LT isn't hidden... but he is overshadowed by Nolan to an extent. Just my 2 cents.

I was running errands at lunchtime and heard Mike Griffith from DawgNation on WJOX. The level of homerism was notable.

Some highlights:
- Dylan Raiola isn't a huge loss, because they have Carson Beck coming back. Plus they've already got Ryan Puglisi committed (I think he said on campus, as well), and that made Raiola expendable. Recruiting two QBs in the class just means one will transfer later, and this way Georgia isn't left in the lurch when that happened.

- He noted all the Georgia transfers who were lighting it up on other teams this year, particularly Burton and Marshall at Alabama. Said something like "It's great to see second-string players from Georgia starting at other schools and helping their teams win."

- Made subtle references to numerous Georgia players who were hurt during the SEC Championship game, with the implication that Georgia would have won if they'd played. I didn't hear any similar comments regarding the Alabama players hurt or unavailable during the 2021 national championship game, though.

- When asked about the possibility of Kirby Smart going to the NFL, he said "Yes, Nick Saban is going and taking Kirby with him."

- Said FSU would bear the brunt of a pissed-off Kirby Smart and Georgia program who believed they should have been in the playoff. He has no respect for FSU, because they could have joined the SEC and chose not to.

All in all, he seemed pretty salty in general. I realize guys like him are journalists only in the loosest sense, but it was amusing to see the complete lack of objectivity.

Am i missing something? I'm not as big following recruiting as years ago but absolutely thought we could use and needed a couple of DT's.

If maximizing profit is the sole consideration in the decision making process I don't know what else you'd call it besides greed. That's basically greed by definition. It's just a matter of whether you think greed is an inherently bad thing regardless of the circumstances. When it comes to work, and at this point these guys are semi-professionals so it is work, it's certainly more understandable that someone would take a higher salary at a shitty work environment over a lower salary at a good work environment. I personally wouldn't, but I understand the mindset of someone who would.

You can’t never have enough DL and OL depth.

I think DTs are always a commodity because its a position where depth is critical, and Bama tends to rotate several. I think of any position, you will always take DTs and DBs in any class at a premium.

And Robot made a good point above too. Upvote for ya

If they go to another team and play key roles in beating you head to head, call me crazy but maybe you need to be butthurt about the coaches who weren't starting them instead of butthurt about the ones who did.

I played on a softball team with this douchbag when he was a Bama beat writer in mobile. He was just as terrible then as he was in Knoxville and now ga.

Burton was a starter and one of their best WRs. Not our fault we know how to utilize a no. 1 WR.

Georgia ppl can't get over the L to Bama. They really thought they surpassed Bama. Reality is Alabama still owns UGA.

Are we still just a hat on the table when it comes to Eddrick Houston?

Watched a Locked on Bama pod on YT and both seemed to think it was close. Down to Ohio State and Bama. Jimmy Stein said it's 50/50. Things could have changed since then, though.

They aren't insiders but Jimmy works at On3 so I'm sure he knows something.
