Three Updates from Chad Simmons: LSU commit Tyler Shelvin will announce his final decision at the UA game between LSU, Bama and Nebraska.
quote:
All three schools will host the Under Armour All-American defensive tackle in January as Shelvin looks to decide whether to stick with the Tigers or flip elsewhere.
There is no timeframe for the decision, but plans to discuss it over with his family and high school coach each step along the way.

Hard to say no if he wants in......would take Paynes place. But just don't see it, think this has "Look at me" or allows LSU some more publicity during the game.

All it is.
An opportunity manufactured to portray Orgeron beating Saban for a recruit.

Practices at the Under Armour Game started on Wednesday morning, and the Rivals.com team is on hands to evaluate some of the nation’s top players.
There are plenty of players hoping to move up to the vaunted five-star status heading into the final evaluations of the rankings cycle. Here are five players on the cusp that can help themselves with a good showing this week.

The Situation: Moses started off the 2017 rankings cycle as one of the nation’s top overall prospects in the class and a five-star. But as he moved from running back to linebacker, he struggled with the transition and slipped to just outside of five-star status. This week will be his last chance to show that he is a true linebacker and belongs among the nation’s elite. Moses is committed to Alabama.
Farrell’s Take: Moses is a five-star everywhere except for Rivals; we want to see him be more natural and instinctive at the position before we make a move. We have had players lose a fifth star and gain it back, including recent notables like Dante Fowler Jr. and Raekwon McMillan, but Moses will have to be dominant like they were to join them. A great week of practice and a standout game could do it as he’s already within striking distance.

The Situation: Rivals has been ahead of the curve on McKinney’s ranking dating back to his entrance in the Rivals100 last year. But after a dominant senior season that saw him look like one of the best players in the state of Georgia, McKinney is now knocking on the door of a five-star ranking. This week will be his shot to prove it among some of the nation’s best. McKinney is announcing between Alabama and Georgia at Sunday’s game.
Farrell’s Take: Safeties are becoming more and more important on defenses around the country, and they're making a quicker impact as well. McKinney is thick, fast and is not only excellent in coverage but also likes to thump in run support. He’s right in range for five stars if he has a great week and a big game.

The Situation: Ray has been a guy who has seen his rankings stock rise steadily since last year’s Army Combine. Now he’s firmly entrenched in the Rivals100 with a chance to go even higher. A player of his size and ability is rare, and if he can prove it against some of the nation’s best offensive linemen he could be the next Alabama native to earn five-star status. Tennessee, Florida and Alabama are still in the mix to land his commitment.
Farrell’s Take: Ray comes into the week as a bit of a mystery with a high ranking based on very good film but rare in-person evaluations. However, defensive end is a premium position and he certainly looks the part physically, so if he can continue to impress as he did on Wednesday at the first practice he could get into the discussion.

Ray tight-lipped on decision
Andrew Bone | TideSports.com
LaBryan Ray, Rivals100 defensive end from James Clemens High School in Madison, Alabama, was one of the top overall performers on day one in Orlando for the Under Armour All-America game. Ray is one of the top uncommitted players participating in the game on Sunday, unlike some he will not announce a decision this weekend.
Ray will take four official visits in January. He has already taken an official visit to Ole Miss. He will visit Tennessee (1/13), Alabama (1/20), and Florida (1/27) and take a mid-week official visit to Mississippi State. The date to Starkville is not set. Defensive line targets are priority for Alabama in the 2017 class. A couple of players are eager for Ray to join them in Tuscaloosa.
"Kyriq (McDonald) and Kendall (Randolph) are hard on me," Ray said. "A lot of times they joke around and are just having fun. I have known them for a long time. They want me to make the best decision for me and my family. I know they will be OK with whatever decision I make."
Ray was asked by Mike Farrell (in video below) which two schools are in the race until the end. He mentioned Alabama and Florida. He also added Tennessee.
"I have a little pressure on me," Ray said. "People who really know me know what type of kid I am. They want me to make the best decision for me. I do get pressured a lot, but it's one of these things you just have to take and make your own choice."
Alabama is selling Ray on the possible replacement of Jonathan Allen who is the Bednarik award winner, unanimous All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
"They have mentioned to me about playing a similar role as Jonathan Allen," Ray said. "I will be able to play that type of role and be versatile. I play like that at my high school where I moved around a lot. I got comfortable with it."
Ray gave his prediction on the two college football playoff games this week.
"It's going to be a great game," he said of Alabama vs. Washington. "Two great teams going up against each other. I think it will be a close game, but Alabama will win by a touchdown.
"I know both of the playoff games are going to be good. The Clemson-Ohio State game is going to be a good one. I think Ohio State will win by a touchdown."

I know he's in the bag, but I'll still be a lot happier when Ray is officially in the fold.

I'll be especially happy when he gets his Bama bump to five stars
