We're giving ourselves a re-do. With a full season's worth of real college football action, we're taking another crack at our five-star rankings from the class of 2016.
Below, we give you the 2016 five-stars, version 2.0.
1. Ed Oliver, DT, Houston (Actual 247Sports ranking: 7)
2. Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson (2)
3. Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama (24) – Arguably the best offensive lineman on the best team in the country, Williams has been a stalwart for the Tide up front since the moment he stepped on campus last winter.
4. Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan (1)
5. Shea Patterson, QB, Ole Miss (3)
6. Jacob Eason, QB, Georgia (4)
7. Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State (10)
8. Marlon Davidson, DE, Auburn (59)
9. Jalen Hurts, QB, Alabama (104) – Though we had Hurts ranked higher than anybody else, we didn't have him high enough. Hurts was the best true freshman quarterback in the country but is third on this list because he still needs to show some growth as a passer.
10. Brian Burns, DE, Florida State (22)
11. Gregory Little, OT, Ole Miss (5)
12. Demetris Robertson, WR, Cal (16)
13. Michael Jordan, OT, Ohio State (228)
14. Jeffery Simmons, DE, Mississippi State (33)
15. Ahmmon Richards, WR, Miami (113)
16. Benito Jones, DT, Ole Miss (49)
17. Tommy Kraemer, OT, Notre Dame (8)
18. Coy Cronk, OT, Indiana (321)
19. Mack Wilson, LB, Alabama (19) – Our initial ranking for Wilson looks about right. The kid was a terror on special teams for Alabama and he has a lot of Reuben Foster in his game.
20. Terrell Hall, DE, Alabama (23) – Hall was a rotational player for Alabama's defensive front and considering the entire defensive front is about to get drafted in the first round, 'rotational' is about all you can ask from a true freshman. He's received rave reviews and looks like another elite talent up front for the Tide.
21. Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn (6)
22. Ben Bredeson, OL, Michigan (67)
23. Oluwole Betiku, DE, USC (9)
24. Landon Young, OT, Kentucky (12)
25. Devin White, LB, LSU (151)
26. N'Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State (117)
27. McTelvin Agim, DT, Arkansas (31)
28. Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State (11)
29. Ben Cleveland, OT, Georgia (15)
30. Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida (1162)
31. Taylor Rapp, S, Washington (219)
32. Shane Simmons, DE, Penn State (29)
Dropped out:
Landon Dickerson, OT, Florida State
Jack Jones, CB, USC
Shane Simmons, DE, Penn State
Jonathon Cooper, DE, Ohio State
Ben Davis, LB, Alabama
Tavien Feaster, RB, Clemson
Michael Divinity, LB, LSU
Rashard Lawrence, DT, LSU
Michael Pittman, WR, USC
Michal Menet, OG, Penn State
Mecole Hardman, ATH, Georgia
Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Ben Davis, LB, Alabama

Since the movement is based on true freshman contributions and Davis didn't play a snap, it's hard to keep him where he was.
Doesn't change the player, but when they give 5* rankings, they don't expect those players to redshirt.

I think Bama is one of the few places who have done so in the Saban era.

Ingram makes for a nice scapegoat on a shitty running offense.

So Hurts is third behind two guys who were clearly worse as passers than him (never mind the fact that Patterson only played in three games) because he needs to grow as a passer. Do they not need to as well

Newberg says he still feels confident in his pick of Kaindoh to FSU and Chris Nee said "nole lock".
Posted on 12/19/16 at 7:52 pm to chattabama
Any chance Bama goes after Rico McGraw? He could go to JR college for the spring semester and be eligible to play for the fall semester. He still has a redshirt available. Bama will lose Hootie Jones and likely Ronnie Harrison to the draft after next year.

I was about to post something along the same line

E'erybody is CBing Kaindoh to FSU.
