Yes and I responded with facts. Hand isn't like Robbie, Robbie was almost 280 coming out and was always going to end up being a DT in a 4-3. He was warned about that. We also do have a problem with linemen being too damn big, even Nick Saban has spoken about that.

I'm not sure YStar is that far off. I'm beginning to think sometimes that if Derrick Thomas committed to Bama now, Saban and Cochran would blow him up to 285 and ruin him.
You can't tell me that our lack of a premier edge rusher was from lack of athletic talent over the last 8 years. I think it purely is a philosophical slant, and one of the two criticisms I have with Saban since he's been here.

Upshaw is 6'2 271
Hand is 6'4 280
It is not that big of a deal. Dude could be 290 and still play DE/jack with his frame.

Let's be honest here. Upshaw got his weight down to 270s after speaking with the NFL staff about what their expectations were. I remember at a point in time him being on Alabama campus around 290.
That is an issue, so much so Saban addressed wanting our players to be less thick and more quick.
These kids get evaluated and their huge, but lack speed, quickness. Which is something our conditioning coach is suppose to be getting the most out of them with.
More heavy weights, less reps to enhance strength/explosion and better monitoring of their diets.

I agree with you man.
I think Saban is trying to fix this, at least that is what he has been telling the recruits last year and this year.
This board just has some posters who haven't gotten on board that mentality. Bigger isn't always better.

Not to mention its kind of dumb to think that hand was ever destined to play jack or outside linebacker when he is in the same class as rashaan evans and christian miller, both of whom made abundantly clear that they were the jack and sam recruits for that class

Where did I say he ruined Hand? I specifically said if he is 270-280 we should make that his size ceiling.
