They are so beat up on defense if we play halfway well on O and get a couple of stops we will be in it. I'd be a lot less confident on the road.

I'm seeing this prediction more than I thought I would, but not seeing anything to really back it up.
Just how I see it playing out from what I’ve seen so far this year.

I think this will be the best LSU has looked all year on defense.

• We can’t run the ball
• We don’t pass well enough or have a grind it out offense that can take full advantage of how bad LSU’s defense is. It will still be about how many explosive TDs we can pass for.
• Our offense has put on film some REALLY easy ways to flat out stop us in our tracks. With LSU having zero to lose with this terrible defense, look for them to throw the kitchen sink. Milroe has no clue when a corner blitz is coming. LSU has no reason to not go nuts with those types of things.
• LSU WILL play more relaxed and free than us. It always does, and we have no OL to sorta take control of any game.

And I’m seeing “elite offense vs elite defense.” Our defense is not as good as their offense. And ELITE offense simply wins today. And as much as I love this team and the defense, it is not scared of getting abused for parts of games.

Metrics have it as close as it gets. I just think LSU will have an easier time doing what they have to do to win than we will.

It doesn’t take a great defense to pick Milroe. Those plays are on him when he throws picks.
It doesn’t take a great defense to slow our run game. They do that themselves.
It doesn’t take a great defense to make the OL look lost and give up sacks and penalties. They do it on their own.

We frick up too much shite on offense to beat teams with offenses like LSU, imo

We actually run the ball fine with the rbs, not spectacular but solid. It's been the sacks dragging us down
So we run the ball ok and have drive ending sacks out the arse.

That ain’t good

Add to that, drive killing penalties.

We’ve had teams in the past that would score points on this LSU defense literally every drive. This one doesn’t do anything well enough to even have a chance at something like that. I can’t see a game playing out where we aren’t down a score or two. What we do from there, idk. It just feels like a very bad matchup for us.

Wingo one of their best DL’s will miss the game and I think all their corners are backups that will be available.

Yes. And LSU is absolutely abysmal at both yards per carry allowed and sack percentage. Like absolutely putrid

•82nd in sack percentage
•95th in opponents ypc

I would be absolutely stunned if we weren’t able the get plenty of effective carries from our runningbacks and made things a bit easier Milroe

Wow that’s bad lol.

I would be so happy if we give 5’s carries to 22 and let him and 2 try to run down their throats early.

I caught a glimpse a few days ago of their secondary depth chart and it looked like all freshman playing DB. Not ideal

We're just as likely to see LSU's defense get it together as we are Bama's offense. The only difference is what you WANT to happen.

So a severely depleted LSU defense that was already playing poorly before the injuries will somehow get it together, and Bama's offense that was playing very well the last time they took the field will somehow be ineffective against them? I'm still not seeing any logistical reasoning other than "they have dudes and this is a big game for them, so they'll probably play their best game."

What am I missing here?

Nothing. Go bet all your money on Bama by 3 TD's. It MIGHT happen.

You’ve been impressed with Alabama’s offense recently?

Nearly lost to Arkansas and Tennessee.

Tennessee had more yards and 1st downs than Alabama. LSU will blow us out if we play like we did against Tennessee.

ETA: Alabama scored 27 points in the 2nd half against Tennessee

1 TD was by the defense.
1 TD was a 46 yard bomb.
1 TD came after we started the drive on Tenn’s side of the field.
Then we settled for 2 long af FG’s.

Positive things, but not something that screams “hey the offense is ready to move the ball consistently.” Barely beat Tenn at home and had 5 yards of penalties and scored a defensive TD.

So best case scenario and we still barely beat a horrible Tennessee who was dropping passes left and right.

If you’re an LSU fan I think you have to assume best case is they hold us to 31. That’s just going by what we’ve done versus better defenses (which is basically put up 24-26 every week).

Can they beat us if we score 31? Yeah, sure. We may well need 35-38 to win.

It’s an annoyingly evenly matched game on paper.

Our offense has been good enough to take advantage of defenses much better than LSU's, but just not consistently. I think that its perfectly reasonable to think that are capable of putting together 2 good halves against this LSU defense. I also think that its perfectly reasonable to be skeptical if we will do that this weekend.

The big problem has been consistency, which isn't an unfixable problem. We know that they can score on just about anyone when they are clicking. Just got to click for 4 quarters. This LSU D presents a VERY good opportunity for them to do that.

LSU almost lost by a closer margin than us? Does that mean their offense sucks? No.

This game is all about matchups. Our receivers are better than their DBs by a lot. They are missing a star player on the DL. I’m not saying we are world beaters but damn let’s give some credit.

From what I can gather from this thread, an undermanned LSU defense is going to give 'Bama all it can handle for no given reason.

Do you watch other games? LSU actually almost lost to Arky. Game was back and forth until the final whistle.

Alabama was up 24-6 end of 3rd and had them punting again before the flags started flying. That game wasn’t close at all.

Tennessee is a solid team. A team that could beat LSU. Outscored them 27-0 in the 2nd half. That’s not so bad imo.

Everyone acts like LSU doesn’t have 2 losses. Ole Miss put up 700 yards and 55 pts. The same team we held to 10 pts. They got absolutely dominated by Florida State in the 2nd half.

This LSU team is so overrated.

With all of that said Alabama has been far from perfect. You’re not wrong in a lot of your criticisms but it feels like certain fans like yourself only see the negative from Bama and not other teams’ faults.

An accurate model to predict the outcome of a game that this Tide team plays does not exist. No one knows which team will even show up

Kind of evens out. The guy we have playing quarterback is not a quarterback.

Let’s be fair he can hit the deep ball with the best of them.

If we run, run him the right way, and take the deep shot. We can win.

Let’s get freaking serious folks. Roll Tide!

I'm very serious. I do expect us to win. Quarterbacking is a lot like golf. Drive for show but you putt for dough.

You're negabammering real hard. While we certainly could lose, LSU's defense is absolutely awful. If we can't run on this team, we won't run on anyone, and we had some success on much better teams recently.
