SOURCES: Jermaine Burton is planning to return to #Alabama for his senior season.

Burton totaled 590 yards with six touchdowns on 37 receptions for the Crimson Tide last season — 265 yards and 3 TDs in final 3 games.

Last 3 games

@ Ole Miss - 5 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD
Austin Peay - 7 catches, 128 yards, 2 TDs
Auburn - 3 catches, 87 yards, 0 TDs

Happy to get him back. Solid secondary option at WR.

He was never as good as we hoped he would be, but I think a lot of that was due to being one of half a dozen WR2s on a team with no WR1.

Sucks, because Bama had 4 WR1 on the 17-19 teams and 2 on the 20-21 teams.

Needs an off-season to work on route running with whoever is QB heir apparent, him and Bryce were almost never on the same page

He got open quite a few times deep, but the ball was overthrown. He’s not elite yet but the potential is there

Think he has the chance to double his stats, he looked great down the stretch.

I am glad Burton came here and we'll have him another year. But For Burton's career, he probably would have been better off staying at Georgia and collecting another national title and stayed as far away from BoB as possible.

Let's not get carried away. The statline in the OP is ho-hum.

Brooks and Burton are solid 2nd options. We need a transfer 1WR like a sinner needs Jesus.

Definitely. Brooks needs some gear and he could be elite. He's got really good hands. But physically he can't dominate. Burton needs route running coaching. He can't get open in a small space. He does ok downfield but he needs to sure up his hands a little bit.

I hope that the underlying thing here is that Burton thinks that Simpson is going to be really good, and we'll have a new OC, thus helping him catch more passes, and improve his stock.
