No, they didn't cancel, they postponed. Big difference. It will be more difficult for a player to transfer and get an immediate waiver since they didn't cancel. But what changes in the spring? Not a damn thing.

This "postponement" is a cancellation with a lie in front of it.

No way they play a Spring season and then turn around and play 2021 with the rest of the country.

They've effectively cancelled their football season. Sucks for Big 10 fans/alums.

fricking Stupid. Kevin Warren should lose his job. Playing a spring season followed by a fall season is putting the players health at more risk than Covid does:

And about the worry about Heart issues.... you have to catch Covid to develop said heart issue and where are you more likely to catch it......on campus where you are rapidly tested or at home running around on the street???

I mean, all this is true - but, do you really want the University of Alabama/athletic department having to defend itself in a negligence lawsuit should someone suffer long-term consequences or die as a result of playing during COVID (especially, and my gosh, I can't stress enough, especially if the University allows the petri-dish that is this fanbase into stadiums)?

The NCAA and colleges are aligned in two major causes: (1) limiting liability, (2) ensuring that athletes remain as amateurs.

Playing this fall when likely half of students will be sent home because of precautionary reasons related to COVID is just asking to shank the aforementioned interests. They

don't want to outright lose money as a result of what would be a very, high-profile, negative light lawsuit, and they absolutely don't want to have to succumb to paying players - which at a place like Alabama, is procured at like 90% below market rate for athletes of that caliber.

There is zero risk for the University here in not playing. They won't lose one single fan. We've all been to Alabama - there isn't any competition for fun in the state outside these teenage kids playing ball on Saturdays in the fall.

Imagine trying to fool people into believing they will play a 10 game conference schedule in the spring, while the NFL draft is about to happen, and the regular college season starts back in August.

Kids won’t even be able to heal up

Another thing is, If the SEC,ACC, and Big12 play in the fall can they really play in the spring with just them and the Pac12??

You come off as a dick here bud. Your idea of fun is going to be different than other people's. Quit putting down this state. I enjoy hiking and breweries, and there is plenty of that in Huntsville freaking ALABAMA!

No draft guaranteed players will play a spring football schedule with the draft in the spring.

Didn't mean to be that brazen - just trying to drive home the point that there won't be any material loss of interest or future revenue going forward. Alabama football stands alone in terms of premier entertainment in the state of Alabama.

As for hiking and breweries - I enjoy those too, but you can literally do both in any state in the lower 48. Wouldn't be billboard material coming in off I-20, that's all.

Two things. 1. Arrogant Big10 and Pac12 may either want out, or want to basically start some new association with each other and other schools that think they are too pure for NCAA football. 2. It is an opportunity for the ACC, SEC and Big12 to destroy those two conferences by picking up schools that decide to leave and join other conferences. I guess 3. said schools could simply form a whole new conference.

I don’t think it is as easy as just dropping a conference and going to another overnight . May be but seems it would take a LOT of negotiating and taking a lot of dynamics into play across multiple sports

My guess is they are not far behind from postponing the fall season as well.
