The guys on wjox say lsu has better front line talent than Ala and Ga. But Ga and Ala have more depth. lsu has better D line talent and so does ga. And, we need to be able to run the ball and make a yard or two on third and short. Both lines have to get better for us

I can buy the DL portion of that. You can find D1 DL talent loitering the meat section at the local wal mart in Louisiana. In Alabama we have to actually search for them.

Hello, I’m good it’s busy this summer.

Special teams should be good. We have Reichard thank god.

Do we have a punter that can reliably punt 40+? I haven’t seen one in years.

James Burnip averaged 42 yards per punt on 44 punts in 2022.

Yup, Burnip is no JK Scott but he’s fine for a college punter. Special teams should be a big strength for this team. Though I imagine people will stop punting and kicking to our returners by mid season. One way to make folks pay for that is getting more stops and having their punter screw up.

Agree. Burnip has been fine IMO. If he adds a few yards to his average this year, even better.

Good decision actually. He can get six more years in the retirement system, and then go back to a college job within the state. Alabama state retirement system is based on your highest three years of wages in the last 10 years in which you work.

I think that is the assumption he's taking...that Alabama will have him back under one regime or another before he retires.

Pruitt is appealing so if he can get his show cause shortened or time served for the year ban this is a good move.

If Pruitt had had the patience that Kirby Smart did he would probably be in line next year to take over an SEC school or possibly be the heir apparent to Saban. Which if he had to wait another 10 years would still be a wait worth making. I mean really... poor guy, prolly have to grow some new fingers for natty rings while you wait to take over the biggest name in college sports.

Instead he jumped before he was ready, got railroaded by Fulmer and ruined his career. Now he has to start over from scratch and IF he gets back to a head job in 10 years it would be a miracle. And the Alabama job is likely permanently out of his reach. And he's an alum.

He's a good D coordinator, I think the UT program was dirty under Fulmer and he dragged Pruitt into the sewer with him and then made sure Pruitt took the blame when it all hit the fan. Seriously why any Alabama person over the age of 12 would have trusted Phil Fulmer is beyond me.
