I usually try to refrain from the “media is against us” mantra, but even in an article as simple as reporting on Saban vacationing in Italy Al.com has to point out Georgia received a major commitment while he was away.

And these are supposed to be the daily beat coverage.

McLain was clearly the best MLB in the Saban era to me.
Agreeing with Magilla with all he mentioned, I would add Rolando’ s uncanny knack to produce a big play when our team had to have it.
It seemed he literally willed himself to do it. Hightower was like that too; but for his knee injury, he probably might have surpassed Rolando as Saban’s best.

McClain was a beast, but I like Hightower better.

Even Mosely seemed more versatile and dynamic.

Both proved to have better heads on their shoulders and NFL longevity

Growing up in Hartselle, I heard plenty of Rolando stories. Seemed like he got arrested every time he came home.

Played Hartselle in high school while on house arrest. Got pulled over for his tinted windows, signed the dotted line "fk the police" and got arrested. Paid someone $100 in the stands at Fort Decatur to punch Rico Pickett in the face for fouling him in a pickup game. Knocked out four frat guys in Ttown for talking ish.

People don't know that Ro was a damn good basketball player. Absolutely dominated the rim

Not really Bama related, but I went took the kids to Disney for Christmas/ New years. The day we were leaving I ran into a UFC top 10 heavy weight Kyle Daucus. He is a big guy, but didn't stand out in the crowd. As I was walking out a guy walking directly in front of me caught my attention. I am a bigger guy than most, 6'3" 240 ish, lift 5-6 times a week. If someone is bigger than me it usually catches my attention. This guy immediately caught it. His trunk and lower half were absolutely massive. I picked the pace up thinking, "this guy has to be an athlete". Get beside him and its Leonard Fornette. He was with his mom and daughters, wearing a bucket hat and a worn out pair of sweat pants. Clearly trying to just fit in, so I didnt say anything as to not blow his cover, but it was insane to see just how big a freaking running back is in the NFL. It makes no sense that a guy that big, even past his prime, can move the way he does.

I was told Chris Rogers whipped his arse in the locker room. Rogers had some less fortunate kids with mental challenges as guest. He was showing them around the football facilities and taking pictures with other players

Said Rolando was making fun of the kids and when the kids had left, Rogers found him in the locker room and beat his arse.

Also in similar subjects, didn't one of the smaller players under Coach Stallings break a much larger teammates arm or leg during a fight? I know it happened, but I don't remember the players names. And years ago (same time Musso was at Alabama) there was a skinny running back named Art Cantrelle at LSU whose brawling was legendary. His first day at practice with LSU, he picked the biggest, toughest guy out, and beat the hell out of him, just to show he wasn't to be messed with.

ETA: I was wrong, it wasn't under Stallings. Pretty sure the small guy was Ali Sharrief.

That's who I was thinking of. Looking back, Ali Sharrief was 5'9" 185, and Chris Keys was 6'2" 215. Not as big a disparity as I recalled, but still surprising.

Ty Simpson looked impressive throwing the ball. He really looks like he has filled out, and gotten stronger since last year.

Simpson's problem is pulling the trigger. He waits too late to throw the ball. He's talented as hell but needs to work on getting the ball of his hands quicker.
