This would be wild. The dude has been taking QB1 snaps all Spring and was QB1 at A-Day. This board's favorite QB didn't even get a single snap with the 1s at A-Day.

This is the story. I don’t even know what the intention of him coming is? Is it competing for starter or a place to land and have an experienced backup.

What if Rees just feels comfortable with him? Knows what he's capable of and thinks he can get him to the next level. Wouldn't that be worth having, even as a back-up?
If Milroe portals out, that tells you all you need to know. He knows he isn't the guy and is looking for playing time somewhere else in that case. In which case the battle would obviously become Ty Simpson vs. Buchner in the fall.

A quarterback that Coach Saban is happy with to try to win a National Championship and that you aren't going to the portal to find an additional one.

Exactly this.
I can't imagine we are bringing this dude in to start. But if one of the other top two guys is leaving I could see this guy coming in for experienced depth.

Just realized Buchner was a top 75 recruit. Highly rated 4 star. Prized recruit for Rees at ND.

I'm personally not disgusted by him committing. If he actually wins the job, then he will have earned it. If he starts and is inadequate, then we try something else. Hopefully we don't drop a game if that's the case. Welcome to Tuscaloosa, Tyler.

I don't think it's worth (potentially) losing anyone on our roster to bring him in.

I think that this means that the Milroe rumors are probably true. Seems like Milroe wants to be the man, and is not happy being in a tight competition to the be the starter. That's the only thing I can come up with at least.

I think the cause and effect is going to determine whether this move is a good one or not. By that I mean if Saban knew one of the other QBs intends to hit the portal than I agree with him bringing in another QB even if it's Buchner. If however one of our current QBs hits the portal because Buchner was brought in then I hate it. Hopefully that makes sense.
