that Tejas game may be a butt-pucker of a game.

2 weeks ago I’d agree with you but they have lost presumably 3 of their top 5 receivers in the last few days. A shootout is there best chance at winning too

With our DL I doubt a shootout is going to happen.

Sure. Their path to winning was Ewers, Bijan, and their receivers balling the frick out. Unfortunately for them Agiye did Agiye stuff and they lost 2 really solid transfer WRs to injury

Now they’ll be protecting a new QB from Anderson and Turner with an O-Line that was suspect last year AND with fewer playmakers than originally thought

Random thought but it’s gonna be super weird being on Fox’s version of college gameday for the Texas game

On Late Kick, Josh Pate said Hudson Card has been outplaying Ewers.

Oof. If true, I wonder where he'll transfer next (and will companies finally stop giving him NIL deals?).

There is still time for Ewers to take the job, but I don't think that is a good sign for Texas if Card wins the job.

Yea seems there is a little smoke

quote:

From Orangebloods/Geoff Ketchum:

“In one of the more shocking sentences that I'm ever going to write, it appears that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is leaning towards naming third-year sophomore Hudson Card as his starting quarterback against La-Monroe.

When Sark said on Thursday that he has a "pretty good idea" of who he will name, he was talking about Hudson per more than a half-dozen sources with knowledge of the situation. This is where we are 16 days away from the season-opener."

Ewers is an ultra talented player but he really hasn't played a meaningful snap of football since high school. He didn't play any at Ohio State and transferred home. I'm not surprised that he's behind right now.

I don't think he ever had any intent to actually play at Ohio State. It was just a means to an end. He got paid to sit on the bench there instead of being a high school student and then he got paid again to transfer to Texas, which is where he intended to be from the start. Couldn't double up on his NIL pay for play checks if he initially signed with his preferred destination though.

It'll be interesting to track the careers of those kind of guys and see how many of them transfer after a year to chase the bag a second time. I bet it'll be a big number.

Ewers really did himself a disservice. As physically talented as he is, he still needed a lot of refinement on the mental/technical side. Skipping his entire senior season meant losing really critical snaps that could have helped him develop. And it could have been mitigated by really training his arse off and taking all the coaching he could get at Ohio State. But from what I’ve heard I don’t think that’s what was going on in Columbus. I think he was enjoying life a little too much and now he’s paying the price. And if you were looking for a locker room to come into to really get back on track, and work hard, and not deal with off field distractions… Texas probably isn’t the place.

He could end up being Tate Martell 2.0 if he's not careful.
