Maybe I’m being a little presumptuous but is anyone else a bit uneasy to put it mildly that we are this excited about an OL transfer from Vanderbilt?

In spite of recruit rankings, it's impossible to predict which kids will succeed and which will fail to produce. Apparently it's hardest to predict offensive linemen. One only has to look at Alabama offensive line recruits. I'm pretty sure no team has signed as many elite linemen over he past 10 years as UA has, yet there are a good number of them were not elite in college ball. Likewise, there are a lot of under rated recruits across the nation that developed and flourished in college. I think I read this guy has started since he was a freshman. That's good for any SEC team.

Saban is making the transfer portal look like his own personal football factory.

Experience goes along way for an offensive lineman. We are unusually blessed to have had several underclass men start. A lot will depend on how well the new OL coach can gel the players available.
I hold out optimism, but am nervous.

The offensive line will be the difference if this season ends with a natty or not.

He might be playing for Vandy, but he has been playing against SEC competition, like Georgia. The coaches have plenty of film on him vs SEC schools, so if they miss on this evaluation, its on them. Its not like he is playing at some 2A high school. So far, we have been pretty good on the transfers.
Now if this was some 5 star white lineman from Texas, I could see your skepticism. Many (not all) of those are over rated.

Yea there is no complaint to be had here. At worst you get what you know is a versatile, experienced, SEC offensive lineman who can plug and play at guard or tackle. At best you get an All-SEC level OL.

I don't know why anybody would be against this. This is as high a floor type of transfer on the OL as you could possibly find.

You are. He brings a lot of SEC experience at a position we frankly have none. Will allow younger players to develop and grow into their potential

We should make Harrell wear number 1, just to mess with folks.

This whole portal thing is going to net Saban at least another two natties, isn’t it? Ah well, he tried to warn them.

If we end up putting Tyler Harrell in the spot vacated by Agyie Hall I might literally need oxygen from laughing so hard. I mean.... Barners might need a therapy animal after this.

Do we have any new OL signees that aren't coming in until fall camp, or are they all here for spring?

Know about Steen transferring in.
