Kick...no. He actually used to be a fantastic punter. That was long ago though. Holder is one of the toughest jobs on the team imo. Everyone just assumes you’re going to catch it, place it, and hold it perfectly every time out. Tons of pressure to be perfect.

How is Slade doing rep wise? I'm hoping he gets involved in the offense more this season.

Read on BOL earlier from Charlie’s notes that Slade is getting some reps with the ones along with Javon Baker.

I have more faith with Slade doing it than anyone else Paul Tyson, at this point is the backup QB. Gimme Slade. Coach trusted him at QB, during crucial moments last season.

Another rumor is, K Robinson?

There's a lot of chatter that KRob went back home to Maryland and missed summer workouts and is opting out for the season. There's supposedly another player who's opted out, but I havent seen anyone saying who it is.

I’d hate to lose K. Robinson, but at least that’s a position that we have plenty of room. That one will sting the least. (I’m not condemning him at all. He has to do what he thinks is best for him)

I believe the weekly college football newsletter a few of y'all were talking about earlier is called 'The Kickoff'. It's still going strong since 1951 & based out of Chattanooga. Btw anybody remember the 1980's weekly radio program 'Leonard's Losers'? Enjoyed that 10-15 min show so much!!

So why is he at practice? Doesn't make sense to me to practice and be around the team/go to class, but opt out of games.

Exactly. I’m sure we’ve had guys opt out, but they shouldn’t be at practice

Could be wanting to transfer back home and Maryland isn't playing this season. If that's the case then it makes a lot of sense to opt out of the season to maintain eligibility since he didn't redshirt last season.

Unless that rumor about the NCAA not counting this season against anyone's eligibility is true, in which case the above reasoning doesn't apply.

with the ncaa giving a pass on eligibility this year. does that mean seniors can play next year, if they chose to? oddly, this was the first thing that popped into my lil brain when i read that.

Yes, I imagine they will have to also work out exceptions to scholarship #s and home and away roster sizes.

It will be interesting to see the effect on recruiting if a lot of the good-not great, but experienced, upper classmen in the UDFA to non-draftable range decide to stay a 5th or maybe 6th year. I could certainly see a lot of them taking that option to complete grad school and maybe have another shot at a breakout year to get them over the hump

On spite of the pending bottleneck, I'm sure no one will be very upset with the added depth given the injuries as of late.

I don't think KRob is practicing or is even enrolled on scholarship for the fall term and on campus. As I mentioned, there's supposedly another player who's opted out. I'm pretty sure Bama had 87 players on scholarship, two over the 85 limit. Two opting out and not enrolling on scholarship for the fall term gets the total down to 85.

Just thinking about some potential candidates to take advantage of this rule. You've got Brian Robinson and Thomas Fletcher who could stay for year 5. Carl Tucker, Miller Forristal and Ben Davis going for year 6. And ol' Josh McMillon going into year 7. McMillon will be 24 going on 25 next season. He'll have been playing at UA since the 21 freshman were in the 7th grade lmao.

Also, this will also probably result in retaining other guys down the line who don't have great draft prospects if they don't transfer. Stephon Wynn, Ale Kaho, Xavier Williams, Kendall Randolph, Major Tennison, Cameron Latu, Jaylen Moody, some of the DBs that don't break through, all the special teamers... Could even see a guy like Paul Tyson just try to stay as long as possible.

Greg McGarity said one of the quickest decisions by the SEC's 14 athletic directors was not to have tickets for visiting fans. He said it was a 14-0 vote.

I wonder if this includes players' families...

No, they said somewhere in that same conversation that there would still be an allotment of 500 tickets for family and friends of players.

OMG, I used to love Leonard's Losers. That was a classic. His son or somebody tried to revive it after Leonard's death but it just wasn't the same. Leonard Postero was one of a kind.

Kyle Henderson mentions in his Practice Nuggets: K-Rob didnt make it to either practice and reportedly has not been with the team the past week. He is reluctant to say K-Rob has opted out until it has been announced by the player.
Another rumor is that Caden Clark (not on the roster) has agreed to take a Greyshirt (his injury has taken longer to heal) These two would seemingly take care of the 2 over condition in the Magic 85
But when it comes to 85, CNS always finds a way and since there hasn't been a transfer in several weeks, I trust he has the solution of how to fit 87 into 85.

I’ve seen the Caden Clark greyshirt reported a couple of places so I think it is pretty much confirmed. LINK
