Is it really that hard to find someone with connections to UA to be a guest picker? I just don't understand why it's so hard to find someone not named Joe Namath that has ties to UA.

Just the way it is with ESPN. Everyone else gets their favorite son or daughter. We either get Joe Namath or somebody with no connection to the school or state at all.

He didn't say we don't have anyone as good or better than Perkins. He just said that they wouldn't be playing on the scout team if we did. He knows Turner and Braswell are. He's being complimentary of our opponent like he always is while also making a soft jab at a reporter.

I'd venture Keon Keeley, Yhonzae Pierre and Keanu Koht would disagree.

He’s a Vandy fan.

Interesting. I’m a huge Nate fan, and like someone else said, he’s a big Vandy guy. But he does have two Alabama natives on his podcast, though one of them went to Notre Dame. The other one, Dusty Slay, grew up in Opelika, but has implied that he’s a Bama fan.

I’m happy that Nate seems to be blowing up right now, he’s the rare clean comic that still managed to get high marks from the pundits on SNL last week. Nate’s good people.

This might have already been discussed, but do we know what officiating crew we have Saturday?

They're all pretty bad. SEC officiating has taken a complete nosedive the past few years. The refs used to at least halfway reflect the hard nosed football that was played.

That being said, they're still not as bad as Big 12 crews. Watching OU-Kansas was awful. Breathing too harshly on a receiver results in PI in that conference.

Bama has plenty of actual celebrities that are fans...and tons of football legends. Shaun Alexander, Cornelius Bennett come to mind. Not as iconic as Namath, but still. Never heard of this guy...maybe he's a good comedian, but he has no connection to Bama.

They could've used Ringo Starr for Christ's sake.

Nate is hilarious! But i don't understand why they always do this. It's Bama's home game, and we don't even have a homer as guest picker. They do this alot! One year, they had an LSU giy as guest picker HERE!! SMH!!

Who do you think is the spy for Daniels tomorrow? I know it isn’t Marshall. Is Lawson fast enough? Or do we need a safety?

I’d almost rather have Key just play in the box and have Amos play CB, Arnold play star, and Malachi play Safety. So we could play Key as a rover.

There are a ton of famous alums or Alabama fans they could've chosen. Offhand:

Robert Horry

Kaitlan Collins from CNN (Wouldn't be my choice)

Justin Thomas PGA golfer

Lucas Black NCIS New Orleans

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Channing Tatum

Courtney Cox

Laura Ingraham from FOX

Dozens of current or former NFL players

I'm mystified them choosing someone with pretty much no ties and few people have heard of (I'd never heard of him before)

And Nate will do a better job than all of those people. It's pretty common to have guest pickers who aren't affiliated with the school. I'd rather have someone entertaining than some random alum.

He literally has no affiliation to the University nor to the state of Alabama as a whole.

He was born in Nashville and still lives there.

What the frick?

I don’t really give a shite either way. It’s not going to affect the outcome of the game either way.

I don’t watch espn gameday, it’s turned into a complete shite show for college football.
