also probably explains why we just haven't seen as many of the counter swing passes and some of the other tricky movement/motion stuff Rees ran a lot of at Notre Dame (and immediately ran with Buchner during that ill fated half in Tampa) - just isn't stuff Jalen is comfortable with.
Most likely. Rees is getting a bad rep for his play calling but the OC has to call plays the QB can execute. That's why we arent seeing much RPO either. Its frustrating at this point to still be struggling with some of those basic concepts but there has to be room for improvement. JM should be getting more comfortable with what he is seeing from defenses. And also Rees should be learning and adapting to what JM can do best.
If JM continues to develop and look more and more like a competent QB and not just an athlete, then Rees will have done a really good job. Physically his potential is off the charts, but the coaches need to help him make it work between the ears.

If a player can't run something you practice it.
In the end people here have a weird thing with not wanting to hold coaches under Saban accountable until it is so blatantly obvious they are a problem.
Rees called a bland 1st half but found changed things up and called a good 2nd half. If you can't tell the difference from how he called the 2nd half from opening things up throwing a bunch of quick routes and comebacks to creative misdirection set up plays then you don't know what you're actually watching.
In the end we need Rees, Milroe and this OL to build on this. That 2nd half was real growth by all. Finding a groove and did it without a significant run threat.
The first building block was Rees actually going to a quicker passing offense which gave our OL some relief, allowed Milroe to get comfortable (the geniuses on here swore he couldn't throw quicks
) and opened the playbook up more so we could play off that.

That throw is a footwork & timing throw. Milroe has a long way to go with his feet.
I agree. I remember watching him miss that easy crossing route to Burton then seeing him flick a laser into the corner for the TD the next play.
A poster (maybe it was you?) told me to look at his feet and they/you were right.
The guy's arm is a cheat code and he leans too much into it. If Milroe could fix his feet and get proper footwork he could legitimately be a 1st round type of player just because he has so much talent.
His horrible footwork makes him so damn inaccurate throwing those low crosses. He doesn't even use it when he throws deep he just flicks the ball.
This is the stuff I hated Bill O'Brien for... what the hell were you even teaching Milroe for TWO YEARS?? What the hell did you even teach our 5-star talent Ty Simpson??
That thief bastard.
Now he is stealing from New England

Well he has been at every practice for the last 3 years. What do you do if it still doesnt work after practicing?

Pretty obvious 2 years with Bill O'Brien is like having no growth at all.
So actually he has had half a year with Rees and if he still doesn't understand that is why Rees gets paid millions.. to find a way to get players to do just that.

Some of the routes catches made reminded me of Larry Fitz when Whisenhunt was coach there

I've looked at the Arkansas @ Ole Miss highlights and man
Arkansas keeps on shooting themselves in the foot on the offensive side of the ball

Bama should beat Arkansas but it'd be a mistake to just assume Bama can walk on to the field and the Hogs are going to roll over. They're still a dangerous team.
My concern is that our guys will have a bit of an emotional let down from this past Saturday and play flat, with no fire.

I wonder how long it takes Shaft to log back on and own his trash takes. And while he was the saltiest of the Milroe haters, he didn't act alone
Thurs-Sat morning ppl were trashing the man on this board and the rant, acting like if we don't start Simpson in that game we'd be screwed. Or that it didn't matter who we started we were screwed period.
Milroe went out there and beat them through the air, something very few were giving him credit as something he could do, and here we are another week that he is a top 10 QB nationally, and top 3 in the conference when it comes to QB Rating (with multiple drops last Sat mind you).
He may not be in the same league as Bryce or Tua, but he can definitely get it done if he stays on this trajectory. Blows my mind there are so many ppl on here denying that

I believe the prevailing theory is that we are/were destined to lose at least 3 more regular season games if Milroe was the QB

Don't hold your breath. He will just move the goalposts and start saying that Aggy has the worst secondary in the SEC and 320/3 TDs is the bare minimum you should be able to achieve against them. Simpson of course would have thrown for 500/7 TDs before sitting the entire 4th quarter. We know this based on his stellar performance against that juggernaut USF defense that hadn't held anyone under 20 points since fricking 2021.

And in an 11am kickoff and theTenn game looming. Thank goodness this game is at home.

They didn't pull any punches on that one. Absolutely hilarious.

I'm actually out of town in a conference. I'm still here. And, my opinions haven't changed one bit. I'm not a sunshine pumper. I said A&M's secondary is not good before the game. You guys are getting weird.

But at the end of the day, we still allowed for Jalen to throw for 300 yards+, and three touchdowns as well. We also went up against a great Texas A&M defensive line, as well. There's definitely room for us to get better, but I'm excited to see how much better we get."

The defense is carrying this team. It's no shade on Milroe. He played a decent game for his skills. But, I'm not going to act like he's some burgeoning superstar QB at this point.
