What is Milroe working with? Burton? Anyone else is unknown at this point
I agree we are nowhere close to the Tua era with regard to WR talent, but let’s not pretend we don’t have weapons:
Niblack: 5* elite TE
Dippre: P5 starter
Burton: 4* multi year starter
Brooks: 5*
Benson: 5* JUCO with elite speed
Hale: very promising 4*
Bond: high 4* with elite speed
Henderson: 5*
There aren’t 5 teams with more talent on paper at WR than Bama right now and outside of the usual NFL feature guy we have far more depth than we’ve usually had during the Saban era.

our WR group alligator arms their blocks when the ball isn’t coming their way.
It’s impacting our screen passing and perimeter run game almost every play and our TE and RB groups aren’t much better.
Totally agree. Our perimeter blocking from skill position players has been terrible.
Last year Kendrick Law was supposedly fantastic at blocking. Where has he been?

Emmanuel Henderson was not a 5-star recruit and he has been injured the entire season.

True…the wr screen is there, bc other teams are loading the box on us.
We’ve been one block away from breaking long game changing plays,
but we seem to always miss a crucial block. Same with outside running game.
Hopefully it improves.

He was a 5-star according to Alabama's website, and was rated as the 2nd best RB in the country. That's not his position now, of course. He had good hands catching the ball as a RB, and great speed, so hopefully he can be a good WR. It seemed like he was beginning to adapt to the position change, then he was hurt. I hope he recovers soon and can have an impact for us.

Hurts was always good at throwing the ball away. He was a game manager. Milroe has some decent stats because he can turn a busted play into something that looks like a punt return td. But when it comes to getting the most out of the play design, he struggles. The offense is as simple as it has ever been under Saban, and it still doesnt look smooth.
Honestly, I have never been a big Milroe fan a do not think he can ever lead us to a championship, however, he is a lot better than Jalen Hurts. I love JH, but the dude was a black hole in the passing game.

But they understood the importance of blocking for one another after the catch. I heard Smitty talk about affecting the db’s path to the wr after a catch by simply getting up into the db’s space, making the db adjust his angle. It’s a big part of why that group took so many short passes to the house with their speed.
The difference between a 2 yard gain and a TD on a screen pass for a guy with ultra elite speed like Bond or Ruggs is often one or two blocks or redirects.

Agree he’s been hurt and switched positions.
But he was an ESPN 5* and 247 5* most of the recruiting process and is listed as a 5* by the Bama sports info group so I think it’s fair to say he was a low 5* / high 4* who pretty much any program in the country would’ve been ecstatic to sign.
Roll tide.com - Emmanuel Henderson 5*

Im still expecting Henderson to be a contributor one day. A bigger WR that can run like a RB is highly coveted these days.

We theoretically have guys that came in highly ranked for sure (some of your rankings are off but I digress)
That being said, which of the guys you mentioned are you taking over Waddle, Ruggs, Smitty, Jeudy, Ridley, or Jamo
Which one of those guys is a gamebreaker right now?

He's injured so he could be a 6* but he's ultimately not available to help our team at the moment so it's irrelevant

We do have game breakers at receiver. Tommy Rees’ offense is not receiver friendly. He is a northeastern big ten type of play caller. He has no creativity and idk why Saban brought him in. We’re the only team lining up in 12 personnel 90% of the time. When you line up with two tight ends that shrinks the field.

Incomplete pass with 1:38 on 1st down was completely unacceptable.
COMPLETELY.
But Milroe made some great throws, but still some bonehead sacks.
Have Rees and Saban forbidden him from pulling the handoff out of the RB's belly and running around the edge???

Milroe doesn't show that he is great at identifying blitzes and knowing his hot routes. I'm not sure asking him to do this at this point would be good for his development. He does seem to be getting better. I think he needs to keep building on what he is doing well.

That is on Saban.
We should have been in victory formation at that point.
What the frick were our coaches doing?
Posted on 10/7/23 at 7:15 pm to TideSaint
The coaches are developing a team that’s getting better every week. But keep melting.

Did you mean to respond to me?
ETA: My post was in response to our final 4 plays after the McClellan 3rd down conversion.
We snap the ball super early and throw an incomplete pass stopping the clock. Then we run 2 plays out of the shotgun knowing we have snapping issues.
We should have run 3 kneeldowns to end the game. That’s not melting. That's common fricking sense.

Apologies. I took a month break from this site. Came back today and I’ve been posting with some attitude. And the Braves lost. So I’m pissed.

I was about to ask if you were on the Booger Sugar.
