One thing that will definitely happen if Simpson is in at QB. They will blitz the HE!! out of him.
They'll blitz whoever's at QB until the OL improves. Milroe is a good runner if he has an open lane to get started, but he's no more elusive in the pocket than Simpson is.

We need more players who make things happen.

That is the exact opposite of what the rest of your post was
I outlined a series of events. My only commentary was that Simpson looked functional as a passer.
Everything else is objective fact.

That's why I've been harping on wanting to see a lot more of Jam and Justice.
I think that we know how good Williams and McClellan are, and they just aren't up to the standard of backs we are used to. They are good, but they aren't going to take over a game against a viable opponent . They aren't on the level of Ingram, Lacy, Yeldon, Najee, etc hell they aren't even Brian Robinson.
I just think that 26 and 22 are much closer to that standard than those two, and we need all hands on deck with our offense right now. We need dudes out there that can make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

From here on out, literally every single team is going to have 8 guys in the box and on obvious passing downs, they're going to bring 6-8 guys every time until or unless Rees and Milroe start making them pay for that.
No one respects Bama to pass the ball effectively and it's entirely up to Rees/Milroe to change that attitude.

26 and 22 are not out there because game 1 26 looked bad in pass pro and 22 was worse. The way our QB situation is, adding and additional layer of bad pass pro on top of the poor OL play and not so great RB pass pro might get the QB's killed.

You can't get any worse than #2 at pass pro.

Come on man. This is a huge stretch. I mean yeah when Simpson actually let go of the football it looked fine, but it's not like he was out there slinging dime after dime like Tua or something.
In what way is my comment a stretch? He was more consistent as a downfield passer than Milroe while avoiding turnovers. Which if Milroe isn’t going to run the ball effectively is all that matters IMO.
I get the “Milroe moved the ball camp, but I simply don’t think the OL play was comparable once Booker was hurt and Proctor was exposed by the speed rush.
And just to be clear, I’m not comparing Ty to Tua and I don’t think he’s shown he’s elite yet for the record.
If I had to make a comp for Simpson it would be a more mobile Jake Coker which I would take in a second over what I saw against Texas.
But elite isn’t my expectation for QB this, just that whoever is out there can put us in a position to win the big games ahead of us and I don’t think Milroe did that against Texas.
I agree that if the OL play doesn’t improve a drop back passer with a slow delivery isn’t going to work, but I don’t think Milroe can effectively run the offense we schemed for Texas so it’s not a great situation.
If they are gonna commit to a one read RPO offense I get it, but I still don’t think saying Milroe has “earned” a starting role is fair or reflective of on field performance and sounds like a coach trying to protect an offense that has looked like an absolute dumpster fire both in terms of on the field performance and effort YTD.

He made one downfield pass.
So yeah your comment is quite the stretch.

Sounds like Justice Haynes dad is getting frustrated with the lack of opportunities. LINK
"When a fan on X tweeted, "Genuinely curious why we aren’t using Justice Haynes" on Saturday, Verron Haynes replied, "DITTO." When another user asked what happened to Justice Haynes, his father replied to that user, "That is the million dollar question if you have the answer I'm all ears."

Hasn’t the Dad talked to his son about it? Hasn’t the position coach and Saban talked to his son?
All of that surely has happened, so why the pretense?

I hate the world of social media we live in. Justice is a true freshman that has been on campus for a few months. Maybe, just maybe the coaches think he needs more work in one area or the oher.

Scuttle today is that Lonergan is making moves, sounds like he had increased snaps with the second team. Milroe for sure number 1, and Simpson getting most of the 2nd.

We get it bro. No matter what objective information available you are all team Milroe.

There is pretty limited evidence of Simpson's passing ability one way or another and I don't think you can really set the sacks aside either since he was holding the ball forever even when there wasn't much pressure. I'm not accusing you of making a Tua comparison or anything. That was just me trying to illustrate a point. I was hoping Simpson would look like a special player who just lacks experience. Maybe Mac would have been a better example in that regard. You could tell at the end of 2019 that he could be great if he just cut out the mistakes. I didn't see that from Simpson at all. He looked completely overwhelmed by the game speed of a defense comprised of 0 players who'd make our 2 deep.
I agree with everything else you just said though. We don't really have anything I'd call a good option at this point and the OL has been so atrocious that it really is hard to get a clear idea of what the QBs, WRs, TEs, and RBs can actually do.
