When your trashy, batshit crazy, alcoholic wife is the more well adjusted one in the relationship. I'd feel bad for their kids if they weren't such smug little assholes on social media during that fiasco.

First thing I thought about. I'm sure she'll wind up in one of these reports.

For people who didn't click the link.

. The Crimson Tide Athletic Department has secured a large enough donation to build a brand new basketball arena on campus in Tuscaloosa. TIFWIW but interesting nonetheless.

Nice little nugget from @RyanBrownWJOX in the first hour of the show: Brownie is told @Greg_Byrne has secured a donation large enough that it will allow him to arrange the additional financing needed to build a brand new on campus basketball arena, not just remodel Coleman.

quote:

If @Greg_Byrne can pull off a new basketball arena rather than a remodel of Coleman, that is a potential program changer for @AlabamaMBB and @nate_oats. If this is true, obviously, a number of things would still have to happen but would be a huge step in the right direction.

I also want to be abundantly clear what I did NOT say:
-That a new arena has been given a green light.
-That any donation was given that covers the price of a new arena.
-That shovels will soon go into the ground.

As we have stated before, addressing Coleman is a priority.

As much as we want to start ASAP, we have to have a financial model that will allow us to move forward responsibly. We are working on that.

This comment from this morning is not accurate.

Booo!

Well, whatever. I'm not as pessimistic about the Coleman plans as a lot of you. I trust Byrne to do it right.

I would recommend using that money to buy gold and silver and wait until the bottom of an economic recession before construction. Just my two cents.

Marshall is probably done. A year after the alleged incident with the student, WSU’s women’s basketball coach left under suspicion of abuse within that program. It’s hilarious to me that they swept Marshall’s incident under the rug at the same time they were ditching the women’s coach.

I was pissed when we didn’t get him back in 2015. It looks like we dodged a bullet there.

Never wanted that creep. Always thought he looked like an Awbarn coach. Was very happy we got Avery instead; which on second thought was not the greatest move, but was right about this jerk. So here's to you Wichita

He's done at Wichita. He will take an anger management class, get some diversity training, and resurface elsewhere in a year or two. If there is one absolute truth in sports it's that no matter how scummy you are, if you win someone will hire you. See Knight, Bobby and Meyer, Urban.

Chris Jans will replace him, Jans had his own scandal awhile back.

People always just thought he had a crazy wife but clearly there was that connection between the two. A bunch of teams got lucky to have different hires the last few years. Dodged a bullet.

I'm thinking this is going to turn into a huge scandal for Wichita State and not just Marshall. There's no way he was such an abusive, psychotic a-hole that the players and assistant coaches almost universally hated him and the administration had no clue. They definitely looked the other way. It's just a question of connecting the dots.

You would think and there was plenty of incentive for them to ignore it when you consider how successful they were under him.

You have to wonder as well how many ADs found something a little concerning that maybe made them shy away. I know he was mentioned a few times and the hot name for a few days in Arkansas' search a couple of years ago.

meh, I'd rather our program have to deal with just another lackuster short tenure (at least we're used to that) than a student abusing scandal.

The mess Alabama Gymnastics and Women's Basketball went through is gnarly stuff and takes years to put behind. Imagine it on even a scale like Men's Basketball.
