I think hes a good hire relative to who was out there. He didnt have the talent obviously at usf, but his teams were tough and competitive against power 5 competition for the most part, and he can clearly coach offense well. Him + durkin assuming he stays will have Auburn in a good spot IMO.

You have it backwards. We played them in Tampa in 2023 and won 17-3.
We played them in Tuscaloosa last year and blew them out late for a 42-16 final.

Heupel offense has started to get figured out to some degree. We will see how the roster looks once the dust settles in a few weeks. Unknown his recruiting ability

Yeah I'd be skeptical if it were us. And he suffered plenty of embarrassing blowout losses. People make the claim "but he won at South Florida" forgetting Taggart and Strong did too.
I just watched his PC and it was cringe. But Auburn is so desperate at this point, they gotta get behind the guy but I'll be surprised if he's still coaching there in 2030.

They hired him because he was Tennessee’s offensive coordinator in the 2022 game when we lost to them. Everything that those idiots do is to beat Bama. That’s it.
