A bunch of Bama fans get called irrational, but just about all of us are happy as hell that we just fought last night. I think the true basketball fans on this board are as good as it gets.

And there are a lot of them in the Alabama fanbase at large. A lot more than most SEC programs, to be honest.

Again - did anybody see the crowd State played in front of last night? The place was half full at best. LSU has similar issues. When we have tournament quality teams our place is packed on weekends and at least 75% full on weeknights.

Bama fans have always cared about Basketball..but its like Cecil Hurts said years ago.." If the basketball is competitive, the fans will attend..but if the team isn't competitive, the fans will silently ignore the team..but they're still paying attention and want a better product".

Im old..lol. But when CM turned the program around and Wimp was making his annual trips to the Tournament, Coleman would be packed on the weekends and have great crowds at midweek games.

And it's continued to this day. Anytime this program shows any signs of life people show up in droves.

According to Bracketology odds, Bama isn't dead yet..they have an 80% chance with 19 wins, over 90% with 20 wins.

So I'll keep pulling for the team and hoping Petty can return soon. You can do as you please

I can't help but keep hoping for a run too.

However, I don't think our chance of getting a bid with 19 combined wins is likely anymore.

That those next 4 wins would be South Carolina and Vandy at Home, Mizzou Away and maybe Tennessee or Arky in the SEC 1st round isn't going to give us much of a push.

I do think our chances increase dramatically if we get to 20 overall wins since that would mean adding another quality win in game 2 of the SEC tourney.

Nothing wrong with rooting and hoping until the final whistle . . . which brings us back to the question:

Any word on when Petty may be back?

Yep - and we'd add another loss to the resume

If we win out and then win 2 in Nashville then we'll have a legitimate shot. It wouldn't guarantee anything but it would give us a shot.

You are right. Even on week nights there would be near capacity crowds. It was loud and crazy, but Wimp never had a team that was this flawed. Well, after he got it going he didnt, except for one year. I remember him making a statement on the radio after a loss in that down year. "They better enjoy it while they can, because they wont get this chance again".

I can recall Lswho coming to town with Shaq, Stanley Roberts, and Chris Jackson. Bama countered with some pretty good ones themselves, Horry, Sprewell, and Robinson. Stands were jammed packed!!

I remember those games well. Alabama had a center (Cedric something?) that was pretty tall but probably only weighed about 150 pounds. It was always comical to watch him defend Shaq in the post.

I've heard nothing.. I mean damn, did they have to amputate? Is it broken? Hyperextented?

Will he ever play again??

Sadly, if it was a football player there would be a whole page dedicated to his recovery.

But I agree,, somebody call his mom and see if he's still on campus at this point

Oats says John Petty has a similar elbow injury to what Herb got in the Penn game.

Herb missed 10 days, I'd expect Petty to miss at least that much time.

Considering how it looked when he hit the floor and the way it bent.. 10 days would be great news. I was afraid it broke in real time
