Shaw has pretty serious academic problems as well. He's not a qualifier at this point and has a lot of work to do to get there, apparently.

Maybe y'all's requirements are different, but I doubt there's that much of a difference.

The neck is also a big question mark. He's most likely not going to play this season. He's a top-100 player though if healthy.

Shaw looked like a beast last year, then the injuries happened. He's certainly big enough to play in the SEC.

Yeah the Shaw situation is hard to figure. He had Bama as his leader in early summer then it was pretty obvious that Bama and UGA among others backed off. Then out of nowhere Bama is back in the picture and Bone says we would accept his commitment. Wouldn't think grade progress would be evident til later in the semester. Maybe he got a good ACT/SAT score? Maybe he got a good report on his neck?

Could be the kind of thing where Bama will take his commitment contingent on him getting certain grades this semester, or they could just be willing to take the chance and sign+place if necessary. He's an extremely talented player at that size.

We pretty much stopped sign and place cold turkey with the new signing limits. Now we're only going to sign a grade risk if there's a clear path to him qualifying out of high school.

Supposedly Bo is concerned about the RB depth chart at Bama and that's what's sparked his decision to look around.
