Raekwon McMillan update post UGA visit. Usually I wouldn't post stuff from the AJC but this is pretty much all quotes.

Doesn't sound great for Alabama, but tbh this is how I thought it might go. Reminds me a bit of Jordan Jenkins in terms of his relationship with UGA.

He still has officials left to UA, UF, OSU, and Clemson.

From I have heard, there is a good chance Jaron Johnson is part of this class at DE. He is a juco who signed with UF last yr but did not make it in.

Some of this is Germans but CJ Hampton says he is the #1 DB remaining on the board and he and Hootie still talk about being a safety combo at the next level. CJ is still considering Auburn, Miami, Stanford along with Alabama and Ole Miss. He plans to take officials to all 5 schools.

Bama still leads for Daron Payne but he is taking the process slow. Auburn and Clemson are also making a push and he wants to check out Ole Miss as well.

Kerryon Johnson wants to be a tailback and that desire may be a dealbreaker in terms of his decision. Alabama has talked to him about RB and Safety, but his other top schools (FSU & Auburn) are recruiting him strictly as a Running back. Auburn is standing out right now, but he really wants a Georgia offer because he loves the way they use their backs.

Marlon Humphrey has eliminated USCe. He said they had stopped talking to him, so he eliminated them. They tried to get back in it with him after the decommitment of cb Wesley Green.

MH is down to Miss State, Alabama, and Florida State.

Was going to announce at UA All American game, but is now going to wait until after the all American games to commit.

Was going to officially visit FSU for the Miami game, but Pruitt wants him to wait until after the season for the official visit.

How big of a melt are we looking at if Marlon decides to go to FSU? I think it could get real ugly for our fanbase, so I really hope it doesn't go down like that.

I'm not as confident about us landing him as I would like. If he is announcing for us, then why is he delaying until after the all American games instead of sticking with his initial plan?

With Belue leaving and Roberts being so iffy on his commitment, I hope that we pursue more cornerbacks this recruiting cycle.

If we land him, I wonder what effect it would have, if any, on Hampton and Hootie. I see Clark and Hootie both as more the SS type and both have connections to CRob. I see CJ as more of a FS which I think we need in this class though we already have Chris Williams.

Quite possibly, but I'm not sure who among our staff and the 3 prospects in question are working under that assumption.

I still wonder about Davion Hall though. I know BOL said he would likely be too good to pass on if he wanted to flip to Alabama (which I hope is the case), so would us landing these other guys allow him to come in as a WR?

I know Dixon is still out there and he seems to be the top remaining WR target. Once again, it seems inevitable that we are going to end up turning away an elite prospect again this cycle.

I guess its a good problem to have, but each season we seem to find a way to have depth concerns at a few positions.

Chris Williams has MAJOR grade issues. I wouldn't project him in this class as of right now. I know Tim Watts has said that UA wants 3-4 safeties in this class to help deal with the HUNH offenses in the league. Hell, we stay in Nickel and Dime most of the time anyway.

I think all four of Hootie, Ronnie, CJ, and Davion have a spot.

Rashaan Evans news regarding his visit to UCLA and it doesn't sound good for us:

quote:

It was amazing and blew my mind,” Evans said. “It almost overwhelmed me to be honest. At one point I was real close to committing, but I still want to take my time and wait a little bit to see what happens.

The campus was beautiful, I had a great time and the players and coaches made me feel at home, even though I was a six-hour flight away from my family. Their message was plain and simple. They want me, they need me and the fact that I would be far from my home, and they wanted to let my mom know they would take care of me.

My mom was unsure about them almost to the point of not considering them,” Evans said. “Now that she has talked to Jim Mora Jr. and Jeff Ulbrich and got a feel for how their personality fits with mine, she definitely has come around to liking them and almost being swayed to letting me coming over there. (Mom still a hurdle for UCLA IMO.)

I want to set up either an official visit to Alabama or Auburn,” Evans said. “I am not sure if I will take an official to Auburn yet. There is a possibility I do not take an official to Auburn, because I have been over there so many times. I do not know anything possible that they could do differently to show me how much they want me. But I will think about that and see if I want to take an official there or not. I might go see them play Ole Miss this weekend on an unofficial.

Early on I was basing Auburn’s chances off of how their season goes, and they definitely have impressed me and that is the reason they are still in there,” Evans said. “I was telling everybody about wanting to see how they handle this season and they have responded, so they are a strong contender for me.

Georgia is getting an official visit in December, which will likely be the last one for me,” Evans said. “I am pretty aware of why Georgia wanted to get me there then. After I get back from Georgia it will probably come down to decision time for me. At the very latest it will come at the Under Armour All-America Game, but it could come before then.

I visited there last time and it was nice,” Evans said. “I enjoyed myself. With Georgia, I felt at home, Todd Grantham is an amazing coach and Coach Mark Richt is laid back and almost favors the personality of my dad.

This is the hardest decision I will ever make,” Evans said. “If signing day were tomorrow, I do not think I could pick a school. All of them are great schools, all are doing well this season, they can get me to where I want to go and I like them all almost equally.

All of the schools are coming at me so hard and giving me so many reasons to go there, so it will probably come down to the reasons why I should not go there,” Evans said. “With UCLA, the fact that they are all the way out there and not in the SEC, so they do not have that Southern edge that SEC schools have. With Georgia, it maybe the depth I guess or maybe who they are recruiting. With Alabama it would be depth chart as well. And with Auburn it is whether or not I want to stay there or not.
