Some dumbfrick South Carolina fan on the recruiting board is saying he has a lot of baggage that kept USCe from recruiting him and later clarified by saying he has a big ego.

The only reason ego would keep Spurrier off of this kid is the inability for both of them to fit inside the same room.

Ha ha. Like that is a negative thing in football... Have they met Jadaveon Clowney? His ego is huge, but so is his ability to back it up.

Ego in football is not a bad quality necessarily. It just has to be accompanied by a strong work ethic and superior athletic talent. In fact, if you don't have a pretty big ego and the ability to back it up with your play, it's a negative. The absolute worst however is the guy who can't play and still has an ego. But Christian Miller does NOT fall into that category--at all.

Also, just found out I'll happen to be in Los Angeles on Jan 6th 2014. Hopefully there will be something to do that day

I went over to UGA's 247 forum to see what they were saying about Miller and came across this post. The waterfall is reeling them in.

quote:

Sandra Golden basically explained it on 680 (I had a feeling it was him she was talking about) last week from SEC media days.

She and Chuck "The Hutt" Oliver were gushing about BAMA's facilities. She said the night before (Wednesday night) she went out to dinner with a 5 star recruit and his father. The recruit was down to BAMA and another school (wouldn't say who but you could tell it was UGA b/c she would have said otherwise) but he chose BAMA b/c he was blown away by their facilities. He said that it was over when he saw the waterfall in the locker room.

I'm thinking we need a full-on water park just outside the football complex.

Or at least a waterslide at the edge of the practice fields that will take them all the way into an indoor pool to the locker room and through the waterfall. Finished with end of practice sprints? Hit the slide!

Not sure I'd believe that but if a waterfall in a locker room gets the job done ill take it.

I know, right? Apparently she said this on the radio. Let's hope there was more to it than just "ooohhh lookie, a waterfall yippee" then he turns to coach saban, "where do I sign?" She was pretty clear that it was the facilities that pushed us over the top. I'm guessing the waterfall is just the one thing that stands out on top of everything else we have facility-wise. The snack and nutrition center is what I like. That place is incredible. Healthy protein enriched Smoothies on demand, that's what I'm talking about. Smoothies + deer antler juice = championships.

Miller said today that he's always favored Bama. The only reason he committed to UF earlier is that he felt like he wasn't a priority to us and he thought UF was the next best thing to Bama. Once we demonstrated that he was a priority, it was over.

@AndrewJBone: #Alabama recruiting excellent student athletes, not just great LBs. Christian Miller sports a 4.0 GPA, same with Shaun Dion Hamilton.

So happy about this. I thought we were losing steam too!

Now for Cam Rob.

I just noticed that UA has 16 commitments spread throughout 11 states. Has UA ever had a class this wide reaching before?

I don't think so. Most of our remaining targets are out of state too.

You're right. Last years class had 26 commits in 14 states. It's just kind of surprising UA has that much draw. To bring a kid all the way from California to Tuscaloosa is impressive!

Several pages back I posted recruiting classes from the 1970s. Alabama had a wide range in those days too, but this is certainly the largest range we've had since then.
