BTW Bama offered and leads for '15 FL DL Byron Corwart out of Armwood. He's been talking about Bama for a while, so I don't think it's offer related "shock". He won DL MVP at Rivals Camp Series Orlando, and finished top 4 overall(behind 3 '14 recruits).

I want to know if he's kin to Sam Cowart, the LB...

Kirby visited Raekwon McMillan today. I know he loves Ohio State at the moment, but Kirby doesn't miss on many recruits once he sets his sites on them. Could get interdasting...

As for the debate between a hole plugger and a pass rusher at NG, I prefer a hole plugger. They are extremely hard to find coming out of high school and this class offers 3 that are projected to play that role in Moseley, Elam, and Frazier. I hope we land two of them. Moseley and Elam are our best bets, even though Frazier is the highest ranked.

To me Frazier doesn't possess the upper body strength as the others. His arms are really skinny for a guy that weighs 330 pounds.

Watching A-day, both Ivory and Lake move well for big guys; especially Lake

I like Raekwon (though not as much as Kain Daub), but more people need to see some Greg Gooch.

I had though I had clicked enter with this an hour ago, but I think my brother Google calling me deterred me. It had just came out during the NG conversation.

Frazier:

quote:

"I talked to Coach Napier about their depth chart and how I would stack up with the rest of the guys. He said they have two nose guards now. I would probably sit out, and be starting by my sophomore year. I would help the team win another national championship.

"Coach Napier said I am their No. 1 defensive tackle recruit. I think very highly of that. I don't really take into consideration where all the websites have me ranked. When Alabama tells you that you are the No. 1 guy on their board I think that's really special."

Weird in the same span that TS reports Elam is at the top, then they release this right after

Lance Thompson to Elam:
quote:

He keeps saying I am their No. 1 nose [guard]. He said they need me there.

Crazy.

Recruits hear what they want to hear, right?

I mean, technically a defensive tackle and a Nose Guard are completely different...well...I mean, sort of.

If Bone puts out a Mosley article saying it, he's trolling

Terminology wise yes, some DCs refer to one of the outside lineman as a DT in a 34. Jets and Ravens do, Ngata played right DT before moving to NG(he may move back with the Williams' hype).

In this instance though, Frazier mentions details that points to him referring to the NG spot.

As good as Daniel McCullers is for Tennessee, he still couldn't stay on the field. He's not a sackmaster, but you still want to get the most snaps as possible.

I agree...kid is a 2 down lineman at best right now, atleast until he can upgrade his conditions.

Interesting as well on the Reakwon news. Wasnt he quoted a while back as saying he didnt want to go to the same school where Foster went?

Also to anyone in the know, how is the staff doing with Ermon Lane. He looks, runs and plays like Sammy Watkins to me. Is he Miami's to lose?

He did but later backed off from that statement though it wouldn't surprise me if he still feels that way privately

There hasn't been much news on Lane in a while.

Having said that the prognosticators over at 247 sports have Lane to Bama at 57%, at least for now.

Speaking of WRs, we offered WR/TE Mark Andrews yesterday. He's 6'6" 230 pounds and ranked as the #7 WR in the country. Charles Power from BOL says that if he gets re-evaluated as a TE he could jump to the #1 TE spot in the nation.

I've argued with some folks on other boards about our numbers at TE. It definitely looks like we'll take two TEs in this class.

That's what I think too. While we're not due to lose any TE/H-back's after the '13 season, our numbers at the position are down from previous years.

I think two TEs for the 2014 class is paramount. When that class arrives, we will have two seniors, a junior, and two sophomores at TE/H-back. We use a lot of guys in two and three TE formations, not to mention the use of the H-back. Assuming guys in the '14 class redshirt, we'll need those two when Vogler and Jones leave after 2014.

BOL Recruiting Nuggest recap:

-Rueben Foster and Raekwon McMillan have discussed playing together. Ohio State leads but UA is making up ground.
-Cam Robinson is looking into being a December graduate which will speed up his decision making process. UA in very good shape.
-Feel good about the two JUCO OTs, Eluemenor and Mavety. Eluemenor has the higher ceiling, but Mavety is better right now.
-Tre Williams to Auburn. Zach Whitley took his spot.
-Marlon Humphrey is fast.
-Grant Hill set the Alabama state record for the discus and has the best throw of anyone in the country this year. He also ran the 1600M in a little over 5 minutes at 300 pounds. fricking man beast.
-Nussmeier has evaluated Cornwell, Chryst, Kizer, Park, Tyler Harris, and Brandon Harris in person. No one can commit without throwing at camp. No one.
-We apparently lead for Ermon Lane but being a Miami kid you have watch out for the Hurricanes. Signing Day decision.

Tyler Luatua is up to 240 lbs

His HC in the latest article was boosting up Bama a lot so that helps

REALLY hope we can beat out ND for him
