whether one starts or not is not the point with Oats but he gets the same amount of minutes as a starter.
I am concerned that our offense seems stagnant going into tournament play. Their bigs challenged our smalls at the basket and our outside shots were not working. You would think a mid range game would be an option in situations like this. We missed more of our down low shots then we made. I dont recall Jones or Bruner making a shot close to the basket in the second half. Ignore me this AM..Yesterday is over and i am looking to the next game which is AU right?

Yeah and the point i was agreeing with is that they've been slow as hell to start games for a while now, and coincidentally, one of our best offensive players is sitting on the bench during those times. I think it might be a helpful tweak to the game plan. Stop digging ourselves a 10 point hole to climb out of.

I agree...3 of our starters had a combined 4 points. They also had 4 of our 14 TO's. Jones has been AWOL lately. Primo is having issues too.
None of this bodes well for tournament time. I would not be surprised if we are a 2 seed in the dance that we struggle with a hot shooting mid major who has outside shooters from Europe who hit lights out.

Yes, Quinerly is playing starters minutes. But February has been plagued by slow offensive starts in the 1st 10 minutes of games, while JQ has been the best offensive player over that same time.
JQ in February (7 games):
14 ppg
20/34 3pt (58.8%)
Over that same amount of time, the rest of the team:
53/179 3pt (29.6%)
That's why I think we need to start JQ again.
Give me JQ/Shack/Petty/Herb/Bruner from the tip from here on out and lets if we can get the offensive going earlier in games.
Right now, we need a spark to open the game more than a spark off the bench.

i like those stats but also give me TO's. He has been a turnover machine this entire season.

21 turnovers for JQ In February. So February JQ averages:
14 ppg
58.8% from 3pt
2.7 AST
3 TO
14 ppg
58.8% from 3pt
2.7 AST
3 TO

Another celebration video - I believe I’ve watched them all on the board and I don’t think this one from Mrs. Coach Oats outside the locker room has been posted. If it has, it’s worth another look:

I won't for one second pretend I'm happy with the way we've played on offense recently, but it has to be pointed out that this is grind time in the basketball season.
Just look around at what happened yesterday. There were 13 games where at least 1 of the teams were ranked.
#1 Baylor lost.
#7 Oklahoma lost.
#11 Florida State lost.
#13 Creighton lost.
#14 Texas lost.
#19 USC lost.
#25 Tennessee lost.
Michigan, Illinois, and Alabama were the only three to win as a ranked team on the road.
As evidenced by the end of season Alabama collapses we've all gotten accustomed to recently, this is where pretenders get exposed.
Here are our last 5 February results:
2017: 3-5, 3 of the losses at home.
2018: 3-5, 4 of them being part of a 5 game losing streak.
2019: 4-4, all losses to unranked teams.
2020: 3-5, 3 of the losses at home.
2021: 6-2, both losses road games against ranked teams.
We've struggled, but for the first time in a very long while we didn't fold the tent. I think we're fine but even if the tourney doesn't go well this team has proven down the stretch that this year they're the wheat and not the chaff.

Well MSU is a tough matchup for us. They have the inside guys to contest our drive game , so if shots are not falling we will struggle with them
Doesn’t change the fact that we have struggled some though the last few weeks

I still can’t believe fricking James Rojas hit the shot that made us SEC Champions. He will go down in Alabama history because of it!!

Yeah, he deserved a big moment for continuing to play as hard as he has while struggling so much this season.

He had some games early where we would have struggled to win without his minutes ... he was one of first recruits for Oats , stuck through injury and plays hard EVERY time out, lot to be said for that

Lol y’all are killing me. I think it’s so ironic that Rojas has been getting grilled all season and he makes a wide open three that he should make and y’all are all over his nuts now. To be fair, other guys have been bricking wide open threes lately so I understand.

He doesn't always make the best decisions but can't say he doesn't bust his arse. Happy for him.

All that needs to be said.

First of all , I have been taking up for him ALL YEAR, secondly , a 3pt shot is not normal for guys his size to knock down . He has good touch for his size and don’t care what his percentages are , he seems to make clutch FTs as well

That's changing the culture. Almost more so because 5 of those 6 wins were hard and we easily could have tapped out and lost. We weren't playing our best and we still found a way to grind through and win anyway.
