Thank goodness you’re not the coach. Victim mentality where all the blame is deflected instead of manning up.

The officiating was poor, but Bama was outplayed and lost to the better team.

And you would have been fired literally before the players got their jerseys off. And if you've spent more than 30 minutes around high school or college sports, you know this.

I mean, seriously...what kind of frickery is this? An SEC coach dictating to the SEC office which crews can and can't work a game?

I coached HS Varsity sports for 10 years and nothing irked me more than the parents who ALWAYS complained about officiating. It made their kid the same way, and in turn, their kid usually sucked and couldn’t handle the pressure. They could only put the blame on others instead of looking in the mirror.

Agreed, I think in this case both are true.

To me the frustrating part was despite all of this, we were still very much in the game until the technicals really derailed any sort of hope for a comeback.

As bad as you guys thought the officiating was, it was SO SO SO much worse than even that.

Let me blow your mind for a second with a stat.

Alabama’s FTs in the 1st half: 6

Alabama’s FTs at the end of the game: 8

Alabama shot 2 FTs in the 2nd half.

When?

With 1:01 to go in the game.

How?

Due to a TECH.

Arkansas did not get called for ONE. SINGLE. SHOOTING FOUL in the 2nd half.

NOT ONE.

IN A WHOLE arse HALF OF BASKETBALL.

I challenge anyone to name any basketball game anywhere where a team didn’t commit a single shooting foul in a half.

It can be any level. NBA, WNBA, college, high school, church league, rec league, boys, girls, co-ed, I don’t care.

Just name ONE other basketball game where a team didn’t commit ONE single shooting foul in a whole half.

That ACTUALLY happened last night.

Yeah I think the people in here acting all high and mighty with their ref defense need to save it. Last night was indefensibly bad. Did we play like shite? Yeah pretty much, but that's a completely separate issue from the officiating. A 43-8 FT discrepancy is not even remotely possible without some level of bias from the refs.

I thought we played fine up until the Arkansas timeout early in the 2nd half when we went up 6. From that point, we played okay, but Arkansas just played much better. And obviously the foul discrepancy played a small part in that.

Arkansas was credited with 11 blocks while committing only 2 shooting fouls in the game. Both of those in the first half.

Everyone wants to act like we just jack up a billion threes, but we don’t play mid range 2s at all, so 95% of our shots that aren’t 3s are shots in the paint.

Last night he we shot 69 shots and 33 were threes. That means 36 were 2s, and I bet 32 of those were paint shots.

2 shooting fouls (none in the 2nd half) in a game called that tight, with 11 blocks, on 30+ paint shots?

Give me a break. Oats needed a tech. If there was ever a game to get one for your team, that was it.

Bama had 13 ORBs to 9.
26 made FGs to 25
11 made 3s to 4
Points excluding FTs: Bama 63 Ark 54.
FTA: Bama 8, Ark 43
TOs: Bama 16, Ark 14

Doesn't pass smell test. At all.

You can't teach young men to quit when they face adversity. That's basically the worst idea possible in that situation. Life isn't fair sometimes and it can be a lot worse than a basketball game. Not to mention the university could likely face some some sort of litigation from that.

yep, not much to say.
We didn't lose b/c of the officials imo.

Herb has to understand his value and staying on the court. Playing fast/hard is great but understand your foul situation.

Primo really struggling.

We may just see them again in a few weeks.

Put this one behind us and let's get a win on Saturday.

- State played 2 stinkers against LSU and Vanderbilt but then played 2 solid games back to back against Ole Miss and South Carolina.

- State has put up 1.0+ PPP on offense in 4 of their last 5 games. We've now given up 1.0+ PPP in 3 straight games after not giving up 1.0+ PPP in the previous 9 games.

- Last night was insane, but the fouling thing is one of the drivers of our bad defense the last 2 weeks. We hadn't given up a FT Rate of > 35% in 9 games (all 9 the opposition was under 1.0 PPP)......we've given up rates of 47.7%, 42.1% and 79.6% the last 3 games. State has had FT rates of 36.7% and 43.1% the last 2 games.

- Herb has now fouled out of 2 of the last 3 games. He's gotten at least 4 fouls in 5 of the last 6 games. He has to do a better job on the defensive end of staying in the game.

It was the 3rd highest free throw rate in a SEC game this season

1. Ole Miss (vs South Carolina) (100.0)
2. Auburn (vs Missouri) (80.0)
3. Arkansas (vs Alabama) (79.6)
4. Missouri (vs Arkansas) (76.5)
5. Missouri (vs Tennessee) (68.2)

Arkansas' next highest FTR in a game this season was 50.8 against Abilene Christian.

Alabama's next highest FTR against in a game this season was 53.8 against Ole Miss.

So, pretty strange.

Interesting that Missouri is involved in three of the five.

Felt like half of Herbs fouls were offensive but your point still stands. If Bruner had not went hot when he did last night, it would have been even more ugly.
