a SEC regular season championship would mean so much to me I keep saying it, because some folks lose track of that kind of stuff. It might not mean much to Kentucky fans, but my arse would be in tears
same. I feel like when I see that clock hit zero and they say we clinched at least a share of the SEC title on Wednesday night, I’m gonna cry

That's about the best way to describe it.

Yeah I mean Vandy is an awful team, but if we had made just 4 of the 29 3s we missed the game doesn't end up being very competitive. And despite most of them being really good looks, the biggest one of the night was definitely JQ's step back 3 from like 26 feet.

I also think that bad shooting nights like that even against good teams will be survivable for us going forward once Bruner gets back into game shape. Having him on the court for just 7-8 more minutes last night would have made a huge difference considering the discrepancy in our PPP against with him on and off the court. I'd imagine he will be playing 30+ minutes in the postseason if he's able.

I must admit I got a little ‘misty eyed’ when they announced Tyler Barnes as a starter during the intros at Coleman yesterday.

Tyler Barnes' First Career Start Highlights Alabama Basketball's Senior Day

The walk-on from Louisville, Ky. experienced a career-first on Saturday in the 82-78 victory over the Commodores

Senior Day, playing the league doormat, at home.
All this makes for a lackluster, half-arse effort.
The positive things about the game was that maybe we got Shackelford off the schneid, and Bruner some good minutes.

Yeah, too much melting, IMO. We just didn’t hit shots. They weren’t bad looks. Most of them were great looks.

We were 10/39 from 3pt.

Our season average is 36%. That would have been 14/39. Thats 12 more points. That turns a 4 point squeaker into a 16 point blowout.

Off shooting days happen. More importantly, when continued to show we can still win when it does.

Only if the defensive intensity is MUCH better than it was yesterday. Remember, we were playing Vandy.

Anyone see Illinois play yesterday? They looked really good. First time seeing them all year, absolutely destroyed Minn.

Re: SEC tourney, Ken/MSU on the #8/9 lines as of now (and Fla/Tenn at #4/5). That would be our side of the bracket minus the lower seeded teams, play the winner. I'd love for Kentucky to move up a spot and get to the other side. They are playing well.

Our effort was fine. Refs suddenly deciding that they don't want Herb in the game is not fine. It has been bad recently, but Pat Adams in the last 10 minutes of the game yesterday was some of the most egregiously bad officiating I've seen this season. You get one makeup call if a ref gives you a quick trigger T. Stackhouse got about 8.

From what I've read Illinois is jekyll and hyde. One game they look like they can beat Baylor or Gonzaga and the next they almost lose to Nebraska.

But they're very good. Cockburn and Dosunmu are studs.

Being Honest I think Arkansas and LSU are the only 2 teams that can beat us in the tourney. And LSU is iffy

Big game for the ladies today against State at home.

Win and they basically seal a NCAAT bid.

Based on the Quality of shots both teams took we was suppose to win that game 91-73

That’s about right

Our effort was fine.
I'll be interested to hear Oats' comments. I'll bet he wasn't pleased with the defense. Vandy got too many offensive rebounds while in the middle of Bama defenders, and all the fouls are often a sign of lazy defense.

He probably wasn't happy with it. There's a difference between lazy mistakes and effort mistakes though. Coaches won't jump your arse over playing hard and fricking up. That is the kind of stuff that is addressed during practice and team meetings. We haven't really half assed it in a game since WKU. Poor outcomes don't always imply poor effort. These guys aren't lazy defenders by any stretch of the imagination.

Yea there was nothing lazy about yesterday.

To be honest, the "lazy" stuff that gets thrown out so often when things don't go well is, well, lazy. Not to mention it's pretty offensive. There's nothing worse than being labeled as lazy or not giving effort, and this team certainly has earned people to stop just saying that anytime things don't go perfect.

I don't mean to insinuate that they are. It's probably next to impossible to go all out for 40 minutes(unless you've got 8-10 Herb Jones around ) every game. I just think that the great intensity they play with so much may have been turned down just a bit, AND Coach Oats will use the opportunity to remind them of it.
To be honest, that may have been the perfect type of game for them to have played!

We've embarrassed LSU both teams we've played. We are a matchup nightmare for them. Don't underestimate Mizzou. They've been playing bad lately. But they are our matchup nightmare by having good big men. That, and they are obviously the only team that's beaten us.
