Crean was a mediocre coach at IU, where no one has any business struggling at. He owes half of his paycheck to Dwayne Wade.

Funny, someone mentioned John Wooden who turned UGA down b/c of segregation was still the policy in the late 50s, early 60s.

If UGA was smart, they'll hire the Drake coach. Dude is another Nate Oats type.

Sharp-shooting Josh Primo settles in as Alabama starter

quote:

Alabama has a shooter who has made 12 of his past 17 three-point attempts, and it is not John Petty.

The hot streak instead belongs to freshman guard Josh Primo, who has started the past 10 games and emerged as an ascending scoring presence on a team that has won all 10 of those contests.

Primo has reached double digits in points in six of the past eight games, and has averaged over 14 points over the past six. His 20 made three-pointers in January are tied for the most of any true freshman in the country, and fourth-most among all SEC players.

quote:

Primo added 38 points in Alabama’s two wins last week over LSU and Mississippi State, converting 10-of-13 three-point attempts and earning SEC freshman of the week honors.

quote:

The 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard has some NBA-level size that has already put him on the radar for that league. ESPN last summer placed Primo in the first round of its 2021 mock draft, although a more recent ESPN projection in December had Primo as the No. 13 pick in the 2022 draft.

Primo this season is a complementary piece to the SEC’s best team alongside seniors such as Petty, Herb Jones, Jordan Bruner and Alex Reese. Assuming he stays in school next season, he would be a featured part of a team that would likely also include Shackelford and incoming five-star freshman JD Davison.

Speaking of that, our guard situation looks good next season, it's gonna be impossible to replace Herb of course but JD Davidson, Shackelford, Primo, Quinerly, Keon Ellis, would likely be one of the best guard groups in the country. Holt and/or Cardet would be really nice additions as well.

I know it. I'd be great for our team this year if he starts playing that well, he is already playing great. I really hope we have him next year too though.

SEC/Big 12 Challenge: Five dream games that should be part of this season's matchups, but aren't

quote:

The annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge is arriving this weekend with some intriguing matchups on the schedule as teams fight for conference supremacy and look to add a final non-league victory to their resumes. Last year's event ended in a 5-5 tie, and the leagues split the crown the two years prior.

While the Big 12 owns an all-time record of 40-30 in the event, it's been an even 20-20 split over the past four years. So, in respect to competitive balance, the scheduling has been pretty good over the past four years.

quote:

The No. 9 Crimson Tide are scheduled to play at Oklahoma, and facing the Sooners (9-4) should be a nice challenge for Alabama. But given that coach Nate Oats' has already defeated most of the supposed frontrunners in the SEC, it would be great to see it face one of the Big 12's front runners. So, with that in mind, here are a few matchups that would have made this year's showcase a bit more appetizing:

quote:

Baylor vs. Alabama

At the beginning of this week, Baylor ranked No. 14 nationally in made 3-pointers per game at 10.2 and No. 6 in points per game at 86.1. Alabama ranked No. 3 in made 3-pointers per game with 11.2 and No. 25 in points per game at 81.8. Long story short, a game between the No. 2 Bears and No. 9 Crimson Tide would create an offensive showcase that would have been unimaginable in college basketball just a few a seasons ago. These teams are riding the trickle-down wave of the NBA's 3-point craze to great success, and it would be captivating to see them square off. Maybe we'll get to see it in March, but it would be great if it were on the schedule Saturday.

A conference championship is basically pointless every year in every sport. Don’t be Auburn and try to find a way to be a winner every season and grab some kind of participation trophy. Win the Natty, or shake hands with the team that did, reload, and comeback stronger next year. There shouldn’t be 34,000 trophy presentations per year. Only 1 trophy matters.

No, no, no, no. Don't drag me into your asinine only the national title matters thing.

I don't care about a 5 day conference tournament. I very much care about a full, 18 game season conference championship.

You do realize that the SEC Championship isn't decided during the SEC Tournament, right?

He was, but so has every coach there since Knight was canned. Mike Davis made a tourney run his first season, then got progressively worse each subsequent season. Kelvin Sampson about gave them the death penalty. Crean did at least win 2 Big 10 titles while there, but really didn't do squat with them, and always flamed out in the NCAA tourney. And then he left the program in shambles for Archie Miller, who has struggled. I haven't talked to my family in Indiana recently to gauge how sick of Miller they are, but they're very fickle and impatient fans, so it can't be good for him.

Stanford's Ziaire Williams (undisclosed), Bryce Wills (knee), Daejon Davis (knee) will not play this week at either Arizona or Arizona State, per a school spokesman. Cardinal are down three starters.

Stanford's had some bad injury luck this year. They still beat UCLA last week without these three starters, but they were really good back when they had them.

Probably not. He wanted to keep Avery.

Yeah, but the NCAA automatic bid is awarded at the tourney.

Call me greedy, but I want them both.
