I think the rapid development of Josh Primo has been a real key to this run.
Primo has been playing great since the start of conference play. When you consider he's the third or fourth offensive option behind Petty, Shack, and Herb, it's been amazing to get that kind of production from him so far.

Well, the last time we won the league we were a #2 seed
Then we almost lost to #15 seed FAU and then lost to Antonio Gates, Stan Heath and Kent State.

So expect the absolute worst
But for real, I can't believe any of this. In first place with straight up beatdowns on SEC opponents.

I keep telling myself the next game is going to be a tough one and we’ll need to play well to win it. And I’ll keep doing that as long as we’re winning by 20+ every night.
That being said, winning the conference, getting a 2 seed, then getting blasted by a mid major in the first weekend would be the most Bama basketball thing ever.

This team just isn't susceptible to that kind of stuff playing the way they are playing. Now, if we look up and don't feel like we are playing that well and our efficiency ratings are dropping? Yea, time to get nervous.
But this version right now? The one that is a top 15 team in Off/Def and, just as important, tempo? The susceptibility of teams that control tempo and are balanced to a weird mid major loss is VERY low.

It’s starting to look like Nate Oats took a shot at Coach K, endured the backlash, then got pissed and decided to turn Alabama Basketball into Alabama Football.

Oats a midwestern boy that grew up eating and ishtting bball. Gotfired was a good ole boy just happy to get paid. UCLA high post
His offenses always looked constipated (except for the elite 8 run b/c of Ashbury).

Theoretically, isn't Bruner allowed another year because of COVID? Not sure how anxious he is for that, but I also don't know what his pro prospects or aspirations are. I'm sure he wants to play in the NBA, but does he want to go to Latvia or Serbia to play?

Alabama suffered losses to Stanford, Clemson and Western Kentucky in the first month of this season, at which point some were describing the Crimson Tide as one of college basketball's biggest disappointments not named Kentucky. Meantime, Nate Oats questioned the sincerity of Mike Krzyzewski after the Hall of Fame coach wondered aloud whether it was appropriate to be playing games in this manner during a raging pandemic that's killed more than 400,000 Americans. So to the extent Alabama's program was creating headlines, they were mostly bad ones.
But that all seems in the past now.
Alabama is suddenly one of the sport's biggest and best stories because of an eight-game winning streak featuring one impressive victory after another. The Crimson Tide have backed wins over Tennessee and Florida with a 20-point blowout of Kentucky, a 31-point blowout of Arkansas and, on Tuesday night, a 30-point blowout at LSU -- the final score was 105-75 -- in which the Crimson Tide attempted 43 3-pointers and made an SEC-record 23 of them.
John Petty was 8 of 10 from beyond the arc. Jayvon Quinerly was 6 of 7. Joshua Primo was 6 of 8.
"This was the first time I have been a part of a game where multiple guys made that many 3s," Petty said. "It was just our mentality going in. We knew what was at stake."
Among the things at stake was sole possession of first place in the SEC. If Alabama had lost at LSU, it would have dropped into a tie with Will Wade's Tigers atop the league standings. Instead, the Crimson Tide are now 12-3 overall and 7-0 in the SEC. They have a two-game lead in the loss column of the league standings over LSU, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky after making 47.7% of the 109 3-pointers they've attempted in their past three outings.
Alabama is up to No. 10 in Wednesday morning's updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings. The Crimson Tide's next game is Saturday against Mississippi State.

No doubt. I wasn’t really suggesting that we would drop a dumb game to a nobody as much as I was reminding myself to keep my guard up.

Same for Reese.
Herb and Petty are playing well enough that they will surely be able to play the game for a good sum of money next year, even if it isn't at the NBA level.
With Reese's development from year 1 to year 2, I could see him coming back to add at 3rd under Oats in hopes of getting professional looks as a stretch 4/5.

He declared for the NBA after last season but decided that since they weren't gonna do an in person NBA combine because of covid that he would return to college.
