I posted this on twitter earlier, but my first memory of watching Bama basketball was the 2006 NCAAT games against Marquette and UCLA. It’s crazy that 15 years later, my most recent memory is now a Sweet 16 game against that same team, UCLA, and now we’re the higher seed instead of them. Crazy how times change, and I’m so happy we’re all getting to finally experience this, some of us for the first time in our lives, and for others the first time in a looooooong time. My favorite Alabama team of all-time and it’s not close.

If they get January hot and play inspired D they have a chance.

Right now I just want to beat UCLA and get a shot at Michigan. We must avenge Ronald Steele and then the Corndogs!

BUT..if we meet Gonzaga the pressure is all on them...we would come in loose because everyone will be picking the Zags to win. They have to win it all or their season is crap.

Here's the scary part with Alabama: Spoke with a bunch of parents, AAU coaches etc. over the last few weeks. Transfers and HS kids have seen how Alabama plays, and they ALL want to play in a system like at Alabama. I suspect this is only the BEGINNING for the Tide under Nate Oats

This coming weekend is the biggest weekend in Alabama basketballs program history....
- The sports channels and experts are watching.
- The transfer portal players are watching.
- The 5-Star seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in high school are watching.
- Nate Oats’ name is becoming national.

We have a chance to take down the UCLA Bruins and the Michigan Wolverines in a span of 3 days, everyone will see it, our players jump around every make looking like they are having the time of their lives. Kids notice that. The world is watching. This would cement a great 10-year plus run for Bama basketball if we make the Final 4.

Let all that sink in. On the national stage, this weekend, we are going to take down the UCLA Bruins, the team that had John Wooden, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar & Bill Walton, and we are going to take down the Michigan Wolverines, who once had the Fab 5. In front of everyone. Let’s Goooooooooooo!!!!!

This team is trash, they shouldn't be allowed on the bus ride home. Worst players I've ever seen, fire Nate Oats.

Interestingly, Maryland had the 7th best offensive performance of the Tournament last night.

That is crazy and we still won by 19! But I think a lot of their offensive success was due to Herb being out so many minutes not to mention Ellis getting dinged up. Someone else mentioned Gary and earlier in the season I would not have been opposed to seeing him transfer out for a high level recruit but I am loving his game now and what he brings both defensively and in toughness at the rim (with ORB and putbacks). I think he has either realized himself or been told by the coaching staff to know his role which is not to shoot from 3 and he is excelling in that role!!

That would be knocking out 3 1 seeds to finish off the tournament. I'm not sure that's ever happened. But upsets are possible in any game.

1996-97 Arizona Wildcats, though not in consecutive games. They were a 4 seed and they beat 1 seed Kansas in the Sweet 16, 1 seed North Carolina in the Final Four, and 1 seed (and defending National Champion) Kentucky in the Championship Game.

I've been saying this for the longest that Juwan Gary is a " Baby Draymond Green" and he will become a much better offensive player in the off-season...His emergence has helped us in so many ways shoot he can rebound in a crowded area, block shots, run the floor, & defend multiple positions. Juwan Gary does all the dirty work so I try to give him the CREDIT he deserves.

Well, if you are alumni then you know the truth is there are a bunch of douchebags that graduate too.

Basically that.

If we somehow miracle this season and win it all. The police won’t be able to stop me (JK), I’ll come unglued lol.

I know I mentioned him once or twice as a potential transfer candidate and that has not aged well at all. At that point though, Gary wasn't seeing the floor at all. I thought it was because he wasn't fitting the system very well, but it seems that he just wasn't quite ready health wise yet. Gary is an integral part of the roster now. All the dirty work he does on the boards is awesome at only 6'6".

One of my best friends from my days at Bama is one. He has gotten into gymnastics in recent years because of his daughter’s interest in it, but I could never get him to go to a basketball or baseball game while we were students. I texted him yesterday and he didn’t watch the game Monday night.

And we call them Football Only Gumps.

When were you a student? Most of the people I went to school with were broadly supportive of most sports simply because most of my time in Tuscaloosa coincided with the Shula years, so exclusively being a football fan brought nothing but pain.
