JQ shoots well enough to play the 2. So they can be on the court together

I can't believe that 35% is only good for 90th best.

Some teams out there can shoot the lights out.

We just beat a legit Top 25/Sweet 16 team with Petty&Shack putting up offensive ratings of 74 and 57

You could run out Davison, JQ, and Shack occasionally, but Keon will be our defensive stopper and will probably play a ton of minutes

These guys keep impressing me every game. Keon Ellis has to be our best CLUTCH player in crunch time. I'm so proud of Jelly & Herb but the guy who played with that FIRE in the second half was REESE. Props to Petty & Baby Draymond as well! They BATTLED today!

If we don't shoot well, we'll have to grind it out and it'll be harder. If we shoot well, we can win the National Championship.

If we keep playing defense at the level we are playing it we can shoot poorly and still have a chance against everyone

Amen to that. Think we can win the Natty when we shoot well from the 3.

You're more likely to get 33% by having the right guy taking those shots. Jones just had a bad day...he's over 44% for the year.

Reese is 25% for the year.

The very best are at about 40

Bama is 35.5 for the season, 90th best. But it opens up the inside and we have guys who can attack the basket. So it works.

Oats isn't against an open 10 footer. But it better be open. And you better hit most of them.

I'm not at all in favor of abandoning his philosophy in favor of taking more midrange jumpers. Not at all. What I want to see is those seven guys who are hitting 33% or better taking them...not Reese. Ok, maybe one or two a game for him. But he's tied for 3rd on the team in attempts.

Oats wants 33% or better, right? Reese can't do that. Seven other guys can.

I think focusing on percentages loses sight of Oats's offensive philosophy. If you take 25 3point shots in a game and shoot 35%, that's about 9 made ones and 27 points. If you take 10 3-pont shots in a game, and shoot 35%, that's about 4 made ones and 12 points. A 15 point difference. Oats wants to take a bunch of them and play the law of averages that you'll make enough of them to create a point advantage.

We shot the ball horribly in the first half yesterday, but that fact was obscured by how well we played in every other facet of the game, and because we made just enough to build a huge lead. When we play like we did in the first half today, all of those misses are really magnified.

The key shooting % for us is eFG, which is a % that takes the difference in value between 2 and 3 and then combines the percentages

Yep, and it was probably the biggest shot of the game.

I wonder why he has never been coached to put more arc on his shot? He shoots so flat it has to be perfect to have any chance of going in. It would make a huge difference.

Did JQ find a different gear after his illness? The ease at which he has been blowing past guys and then finishing at the rim has been ridiculous.

Reece has been struggling for sure but I didn't hate him shooting the 3 from the top of the key up 4. That's his shot in the perfect spot.

We got up 7 there, it's over.
