I think they can and will play a fair amount of JD, JQ, and Shack together. You’ve gotta have some rim protection at the 4 and/or the 5, but you also cause a lot of issues for the opposing defenses. Good luck defending those three guys if we can space the floor effectively.
I think we’ll see a ton of JD-Shack and JD-Quinerly lineups, but like this season, Quinerly-Shack is too small of a backcourt to defend effectively.

Eh, against some teams that just happen to have big physical guards, sure. But that's not every team, by any means.
Shack isn't especially small, and both of them have improved defensively as the year has gone on.
Those teams have to guard us too.

They’ve improved but there’s a reason why Oats still isn’t playing Shack and Quinerly together.

Quinerly and Shack are only 6’0 and 6’3 (on a good day) respectively with very limited length.

I agree, but I’d rather have a player like JD out there who is just as good offensively and better defensively.

I'm really excited about next years team, to be honest.
Defense is a bit concerning because of who we lose and how great they are at covering up mistakes, but offensively.........boy, that's some talented firepower.
Davison, JQ and Shack + a year of development for Ellis, Primo, KAH, Miles and Gary + wildcard of Frenchie and possibly/probably Bediako.

I don't have the advanced stats/data in front of me, but sure seems like we've played a fair amount of Quinerly-Shack-Petty lately.
Shack is second on the team in minutes. He plays with everybody.

We need to get another Guard in the Portal IMO and let Rojas go.
Tchikou, Bediako, Gary, and Ambrose. That’s 4 big men...that’s the most our team should have IMO. Now granted Tchikou is pretty skilled for a big man.

Congrats to Herb on SEC POTY! He does so much that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Crazy that he isn't even properly appreciated by some Alabama fans, I know we had 3 or 4 in here who thought Moses Moody should've won it. Herb is for sure our team MVP and this team will go as far as he takes them.

Shacks defense is insanely improved this year. If he can get his 3pt Shot back next year he may be in contention for SECPOTY

Most frequent lineups last 5 games per KenPom
1. Shack/Petty/Primo/Herb/Bruner (9.4%)
2. JQ/Shack/Petty/Ellis/Bruner (7.0%)
3. JQ/Petty/Ellis/Herb/Reese (5.5%)
4. JQ/Shack/Petty/Herb/Rojas (4.8%)
5. Shack/Petty/Ellis/Herb/Bruner (4.6%)
6. JQ/Petty/Primo/Herb/Bruner (4.4%)
7. JQ/Shack/Petty/Gary/Herb (4.2%)
8. JQ/Shack/Petty/Primo/Bruner (4.0%)
9. JQ/Shack/Petty/Herb/Bruner (3.8%)
10. JQ/Shack/Petty/Herb/Reese (2.8%)
So they're on the floor together about 27% of the time the last 5 games

I would have voted for Moody and I think Herb is one of if not the most important Alabama basketball player of the last 20 years.
He's also got an offensive rating of 94.2 in 20 games against Top 100 opponents. It's fair to love him, think he's the glue that holds this team together and also recognize that maybe other players had great years too.

Moody should have won it IMO. Herb was running away with it before he got hurt IMO and has not been the same offensively since

Nope. Not enough.
A few injuries and we’d be playing Josh Primo at center.

The guy on this team that doesn't get enough love is John Petty. There's an argument to be made that his case for SEC POTY was every bit as good as Herb's.
Herb is the best defender in the SEC but Petty is in the Top 10. And Petty is averaging 13 PPG, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. If he'd shot it from 3 PT range just a bit better the last month he'd have a really strong case.

I'm just happy that its Moody>Cam for FOTY

Interesting that that Ellis as the sort of 4 lineup is second. Must be Herb in foul trouble minutes.
Next year's frick it, lets go lineup:
JD
JQ
Shack
Ellis
Gary

Same. That would have been a joke, to be honest, but it felt like one of those picks that always gets made.
The advancement of analytics and advanced stats in the last 5 years even amongst the media is why it went to the right guy. 10 years ago Thomas wins it running away.

Yep - he's the go small 4 guy for sure. Oats has built his ideal roster in only 3 years - a bunch of guys who can play the 2-4 and a bunch of guys who can play the 3-5. And to top it off the best PG in high school coming in to run the 1.
Miles, Ellis and Primo are all going to be such great swiss army knife weapons in 2022.

I think I'd have been more pissed off about that than most Arkansas fans.
I just can't stand the way he plays. All the yolo shots, the out of control drives, the blatant flopping, the matador defense. He's a high school kid pretending to be James Harden in a pickup game.
