Was encouraging to see Primo make some shots and stay aggressive in the 2nd half.

Me as much as anyone was convinced they had to sit him moving forward this season, but Oats knows his kids and knows that they need Primo in the tournaments and clearly told him to keep playing how he plays. We'll see if it got him going when we go to Nashville, but I suspect the 2nd half really helped his confidence (both from 3 and at the rim).

Hopefully the 3 he rattled in will let him catch fire again. His shots in the 1st half looked good, but spun out. It wasn’t like he bricked them like the last few games which was also encouraging.

Ellis also had some pure strokes today, which was needed after a rough week or two. Just felt like the dam kind of broke in the 2nd half and guys started seeing the ball go through the net and wanted more.

We've been down this path before where it doesn't mean shite, but going to the tournament you definitely want some real, game built confidence in those guys.

Not saying that Oats explicitly said that this is the plan or goal, but i'm also not sure that it was complete happenstance that Primo took 14 shots today.

That's the second most attempts he's had in a game all season. He could've easily went 3/5 from deep - a couple of them just rattled out.

It was very clearly in the plan. Same with Herb to start the 2nd half.

If it wasn't scripted it was certainly encouraged.

We have to get some sort of production out of him and Ellis, Bruner to be able to play 20+ minutes, and JQ to keep playing well if we want to do anything at all in the postseason. Everyone else you kinda know what you're getting, but those guys tend to have a ton of influence on whether we play like a 7 seed or a 1 seed.

No doubt. I'm sure Oats wanted to get Primo as many shots as he could so he can get him back going again. We're obviously more dangerous when he's hitting shots. I don't think he told everyone in the locker room that Primo has been sucking and we need to get him a bunch of shots, but i'm sure he told Primo that he needs to and has to be more aggressive and to just let them fly. Hopefully today was the beginning of Primo breaking out of his little funk.

Man, I really hope things come together and we play some of our best ball in the tournament. 01 is probably the last time we felt like we actually had a legit chance to make a decent run and that ended with Kent State.

Always seems like when Ellis’s 3s go in that they hit every part of the rim rather than a Petty splash. No complaints though!

Three point percentages on the team this year

Primo 40%

Petty 38%

Quinerly 44%

Ellis 37%

Herb Jones 46%

There's no reason we shouldn't be one of, if not the top three point shooting team in the tournament.

Even Shack who has been in a three point slump has hit 9 out of his last 22 threes (41%), so hopefully he is getting hot at the right time too.

I wish we would have shot better at the free throw line. Seemed like this was our worst night of the season at the line

As a team, Colorado is shooting 83.4% from the FT line on 450+ attempts.

Me too but we have to decrease the TO's to go very far. When did the game change to where the guy that leads a 3 on 1 feels like he has to also be the one that shoots it? Petty gave it up for an easy layup today on a 2 on 1 and that is one of the few times I remember us not just forcing it through contact at the rim. Shack is the worst at never giving it up.

My biggest concern moving into the tournament is the health of Bruner and production of our big men.

Bruner 6 pts. 0 rebounds
Rojas. 4 pts. 4 rebounds
Reese 2 pts. 0 rebounds
Gary. 0 pts. 5 rebounds.

We're going to need more from them moving forward.

Anyone watching this Texas St vs App St game?

App St was up 8 with under a min and now its going to OT after Texas State hits like 4 3s playing the foul game

We've discussed it some and I think the general feeling was that Oats is teaching that, because he certainly hasn't put a stop to it.

For sure. I'm hoping that the philosophy behind it makes/will make more sense with better finishers at the rim like a JD Davison as opposed to Shack. I feel like a guy like Kira or Collin would convert a higher percentage than Shack currently is and JD can can play above the rim better than any of them.

Was that the dude who rolled his way up Robert Horry’s leg trying to hyper extend his knee, resulting in Horrypopping him a couple of times and getting kicked out of a tourney game?
